Let me unpack this idea for the passerby’s and the people who are like what the F**k do you mean racism is not real.

I believe just based off general life experience and extensive personal research on the ways individuals interpret everyday life that racism is an idea many believe to be fact but in all actuality it is fiction. You see you are not born hating people based off how they look or where they come from, you also don’t go through your early years realizing that other individuals are from different backgrounds than you because you are seeing life from an unobstructed view. See as a child you learn and see new things all the time and the world is quite literally like a playground you have not a worry in the world because you’re too busy finding your place in it. But being a child comes with its pros and cons the pros are

Your mind is like a sponge (Literally) you retain everything you see and hear at a very high level

You are impressionable, meaning anything, if presented to you the right way will stick with you either good or bad i.e habits and mannerism

The cons are

You are impressionable, so given the individuals around, Family, Friend, Ect. Your life decisions and habits will be greatly affected the younger you are

You are poor at decision making. And rightfully so because you are an adolescent and you need proper guidance from your guardian until you are old enough to decide on your own

what is the relevance to this topic you ask ? Well given this example above I’d like to point out that the act off being a racist and becoming one starts when you are the most vulnerable to poisonous information. See people who condone this activity or take part in it, do so because when they were younger they saw someone who was meant to guide them partake in hate with no rhyme or reason and as a society we feed into the fire of hate by keeping it alive and stoking the flame i.e a bad person who happens to be white and a police officer decides to shoot a black man in front of his wife and child. The news and social media will tell you it’s police brutality and racism but in all actuality it’s just a bad individual choosing to commit a horrible crime and using his credentials as merit to do so thus causing an uproar and giving mainstream media a story to type to rustle the feathers of the uneducated and singular minded individual. In short Racism is not real it is a taught behavior and in the famous words of Morgan Freeman “If we continue to talk about it we give it relevance and make it matter” stop blaming the state of our country on racism and look at the real problem, accountability.
