I’m not coming back: Short Music Video Concept

 Concept 001 Campervan Journey.

 One idea I had for the video was the idea of a Mini Camper van driving through different environments, passing through mountains, rivers, forests etc with a very summery feel.  Almost everything in the shot, from the van and the trees moving along to the rhythm of the song, bumping up and down along the road. I like the idea of this one character driving through the nature and discovering strange/scary/cute people creatures along the way. Maybe pick up a few hitch hikers. That’s the basic gist, I don’t think it needs to be much more complex than that as we want it quite loose. Perhaps the main character/driver could grow a bit of beard becoming more of hippy along the way. But generally just some nice visuals, things growing, some creatures.

 Visually I would look to create something more organic, a hand built sets with paper/card trees. And the camper van almost like a toy. Colours will be vibrant and some scenes would be nice to turn quite psychedelic with paintlets floating around.  Also the animation itself will have a very sharp upbeat feel, keeping in tune with the song.    

 The characters within it would be puppets and the eyes would then be animated on top of the characters. I have referenced Conner Finnegan below who I would look to for style and some of the techniques he uses. And as it’s puppets I will be using film which will be more efficient than stop frame animation or 3D. And should look bloody cool.

Really lovely animation, recommend watching all the way through. This is a great reference for the environment/ textures and some of the character designs.
