This funky post-punk album sounds like a more unhinged version of the first half of Talking Heads’ Remain In Light (despite predating it by several years). It’s an absolute blast from beginning to end. This is the opening track.

As far as I’m aware, this is the only track Lustt ever recorded. It’s an immaculate Italo-disco jam though. 

Dumbo Gets Mad are a mad underrated psyche-pop duo from Italy. Quantum Leap, in particular, is a fantastic listen for a breezy summer day.

This album sounds somewhere in between music from The Weather Channel and Sonic Adventure. Groovy.

This is something you don’t hear every day. Brendan Byrnes makes microtonal pop music (and somehow manages to avoid sounding pretentious). The use of different scales makes everything on this album feel like an alien adventure.

Prefab Sprout is equal parts lush and lame. Any track on Steve McQueen could easily slip into an 80s teen drama. None of that, however, can take away from the smart and sweet pop songcraft on this album.

Kult is a new wave/post-punk band from Poland. This, the opening track of their second album Posłuchaj to do Ciebie, shows off the psychedelic influences that made Kult unique in the Polish post-punk movement.

Au Pairs were a post-punk band in the early 80s that released two albums of tight and funky post-punk with decidedly feminist lyrical themes. This is the opening track of their first album, Playing With a Different Sex.
