what did you think of meagon’s character in decayed and decrepit? i love her sm and want more opinions lol
meagon my goat!! interesting but difficult question to answer. meagon's character is a really interesting one - i wish she had more opportunity to expand upon her background and internal motivations during the event, because i feel that there were more potential layers of complexity that weren't explicitly alluded to. i really liked the role she played in the quad. to me it felt that she was the anchor, the rock of the group; she was at their center, and a constant to the very end. her protectiveness and tremendous care for the others was beautiful and acted out SO well. parallel to that, her personal moral code and motivations were intriguing, especially in relation to her backstory. i would love to learn more about it all tbh.
her personality was also absolutely riotous at times. that one meagon and rotation clip on the hostel roof is the funniest shit ever iykyk, as well as their broadcast from lower facility.
i like to think that meagon, rotation, and nobody stuck together after the events of the series. i mean, it's what rotation himself says. but in the context of meagon, idk her character gives me the impression of one who has long lacked lasting relationships, and i don't think you go through what they did without forming some kind of immense bond. it's like. precious. </3
if you were to cast a live action adaptation of decayed, who would you pick to play who? (both silly and serious answers highly encouraged)
THIS IS SO HARD oh god ummmmm umm. timothee chalamet as saparata and sadie sink as stellareyn boom done. kidding (mostly (actually there's sort of a vision with sadie as stella (idk))). i honestly don't know enough actors for this LOL i haven't kept up with the film industry in like a year and now i've forgotten everyone who exists ever.

it's been months and i'm still in the party so here's some meagon decayed and decrepit word vomit and/or headcanon(s)
strong emphasis on headcanon because uhhhhhh um uhhhhhh <- guy who thinks a lot. also a slightly less strong emphasis on word vomit because this is partly stream of consciousness talking sort of kind of xP i think and think and think and about 80% of those thoughts are meagon
to me, meagon comes as someone who had been shaped and remolded by the events surrounding her that she has no control over, i.e. her mother's death and the lifestyle she led prior to that death. i'm writing this with No Refreshers so i'm going off the top of my head and i may be misremembering details, but with meagon's mother working for roghost and being acquainted with ish, i think it's safe to assume that most of her time was taken by work.
and that's what i'm thinking about when i say meagon has been "shaped and remolded". the meagon that we see in decayed is a meagon who's already past the point of a character that will be drastically changed by the events that wash over them; she's already beyond that point and is already the "developed" character. of course, i don't particularly think that she's already "perfect" and "infallible". she's had moments where she questioned her own morality and even show prejudice against the other visitors, almost to the point of being so stubborn abt it. but i like to think that this is the meagon that's already in her prime of maturity.
for the most part, she's provided the most stability for the quad. she was there to support rotation and ground him, to care for grayleigh and look after her, hell she even saved mike the first time they met. constantly, as their group formed, she's provided them with resources and ensured their safety, so i guess this is also the point where i want to get preachy and shove meagon further in to the quadpostings and ravings because she's so fundamental to the quad!!!
anyway i digress
i like to think that in her youth, she had a shorter fuse and a temper that was unchecked. growing up with only a mom, she only had her as a support system. they only had each other. but, as i've stated, i reckon most of meagmom's (moving fwd i will refer to her as thus) time was taken by work. i like to assume that, as someone who's lived in the world pre-apocalypse, her mom craves for the "normal" she knew back then to return, and in chasing that she's driven to desperation; to taking a job with unfair pay if it meant being in the front lines of developing a cure; to going on an excursion to the center of the apocalypse itself even if it meant sacrificing her life as well.
but meagon doesn't understand all this. all she sees is a her mother giving and giving and giving, never to receive, at least not fairly. all she feels is a mother who constantly slips away from her. a mother who, in the end, is juggling between being a mother and being a worker.
i like to think that this results in a rocky relationship. not exactly hateful, not even full of contempt, but something so imperfect and jagged that aspects of it leaves lasting wounds (see: the fear of being abandoned, the pain of being forgotten, and the hurt of being unheard. all splattered across sessions).
meagon does remember meagmom fondly, because she still loves her. she was the same mother that meagon took after, fashion-wise and career-wise; the same mother that she took most of her features from--she vaguely recalls that, during one of their arguments, her eyes would remind her mother of her father, but it wasn't said with hatred, but rather a strange kind of emptiness that makes everything along its path lonely--and the same mother who painstakingly labored for humanity, and ultimately for her, so they would share the same fondness for the future and hold the present much more dearly.
i think in the end, meagon tries emulating the kind parts of her mother so she'd live on. or something like that. idk
