âSpeak for yourself.â Pietro mused with a wry chuckleâfor onceâthings seemed to be moving quickly to him. It was a change of pace, but not a particularly welcome one. Â âWell, after everything thatâs gone downâeveryoneâs due for a break, right?â He pointed out, smile wavering somewhat at her question.
âUhâa lot of stuff. I justâI canât be homeâright now. Not because of Cole or anything-â He was quick to add, hands rising and falling. âJust, itâs hard to explain.â A hand rose to rub at the back of his neck. âThereâs just a lot going on and I donât feel like Iâm in control of it. I donât feel like Iâm ahead of things. Guess itâs just a weird time, you know?â
âPet, you know better than most that breaks donât just happen in this city. But Iâll take what I can get.â It gave her time to think on a lot of things, at least, even if they werenât necessarily pleasant.
Her brow arched as he skirted around the core of her question, concern lining her features lightly. âWell. The best you can do, then, is roll with it,â she pointed out, loosening her posture slightly. âYou donât have to always be ahead.â
