Idk man I just feel like the writers made Aemond's mommy issues a little TOO literal. Like when he first leaned in I, and probably Alicent, assumed it was going to be a nose rub or like a little peck the way mothers do with their kids, which would still be kinda weird because Aemond is an adult but like whatever. But no. Subtly is dead ig.
Where ever was there subtlety when Aemond was literally breastfeeding from a prostitute as proxy for his mother?
I question if people have actually watched the show.
The finale turned into the Jax, Caine, and violence against women show. Christ...
We saw a longer scene of Jax violently choking Pomni out than we got any development for Ragatha, Zooble, or Gangle during the finale. That's fucking crazy.
There were more scenes of Jax's violent and sexual fantasies of harming the female characters than there were of the female characters speaking for themselves.
And after all of that we had to witness said female characters mourn him. Especially Gangle, who was a target of Jax's violent bullying the entire show. Which felt disgusting.
I don't know why people are mad about Jax abstracting, it's absolutely the best thing for everyone in the circus.
I did not like that finale. I got a refund of my tickets cause I don't need to see the writer's barely disguised fantasies of violence against women being played out on the big screen.
The concept that married people live longer is interesting. I'm sure there is some merit to the idea that if you're married there is someone there to nag you about going to the doctor, but I think much larger factors are having the finances of dual incomes and access to an immediate support person.
Surgeries require having a designated person to look after you. Many injuries require driving to somewhere like an emergency room which can be hard to do if you are the one injured. If you're home with the flu, it's hard to tell when it's bad enough to go to the hospital without another person checking on you. And if you pass out it requires another person to find you like that to get medical aid.
You can prop it up as the benefits of marriage, but I think there's a much deeper discussion to be had about how we've built society around marriage as an inevitable conclusion and neglected to build support systems that function outside of romantic pairings.

The Devil Wears Prada 2 is so good!!!! Hilarious that we got a trailer with Anne Hathaway girl kissing before the movie, but alas. No actual girl kissing in the movie itself.
But beyond that, there was a phenomenal twist. The fashion was on point save for one or two pieces which had me like, hawhat?! The humor was great. They did a really fantastic job making a contemporary story about Runway and modern politics and how publishing works today. It was far more serious than the first movie, but that wasn't a bad thing.
Loved Andy's relationship with Nigel. That really shined. Even her relationship with Emily shined too. But I feel like I could have used more interactions between Andy and Miranda. Like, their relationship literally didn't grow at all. They're stuck in the same toxic boss/assistant roles from the first movie, even as equals now. Miranda won't ever allow herself to be equal to Andy. I just wish that they had been shown working side by side more than they did. They worked together once, and they didn't even show them actually working together! I just wanted more of them. And there was not a lot of them.
And they got almost the entire cast from the first movie. I was so happy to see so many of the old actors. Even small roles. It made me really happy. You could just tell from the top to the bottom of the production that everyone loved the first movie, and wanted to do right by it. And that they were all enjoying the fuck out of working together.
If you are here for shipping though. You will be disappointed, but there were a couple good scenes. The kitchen scene for one, was shipper heaven, lmao. And the car scene at the end. And just Andy's devotion in general. Andy does have a man, but he's so bland he may as well have not even existed. Honestly, I was never an Emily/Andy shipper before, and this movie had me wanting to ship them. I loved their interactions.
Please, go see it in theaters!! I doubt they will want to do a third, but I also feel like they left space for a third movie.
