You write a lot of fantastic serious analyses about Lace and her story, character, etc--- But I gotta ask, got any silly Lace headcanons?
My strength tends to be more the dark /dramatic stuff. (I respect ppl who are good at comedic /fluffy stuff, tho! It's a real skill I don't have so much)
In my personal HC I like to think the Organ Sleepers existed and that the 5 constructs used to act kinda like a team of magical girls, complete with poses &ballerina-like dance moves (except a bit mean & disturbing)... even then I think at the beginning they did have an actual bond & would engage in some whimsical playful antics together.
(At some point Phantom decided they'd rather be a sort of gender neutral tuxedo mask instead)
Of course my head the instantly turns it to angst the immortality/ lack thereof & "failed experimnts go in the trash" policy would have caused what positive bonds they had to desintegrate.
I think it would probably be hard for her to be fun & sincere (but it would do her a lot of good)
The crazy laugh sounds crazy cause I'd assume a lot of the time she's laughing when she actually wants to cry or is nervous/scared (cause those are "weakness") so even though she's always laughing it's not a happy sound.
I think she might be really touched (but also embarassed & struggle to keep the mean act up) if she got shown real recognition for something she did.
Hornet: *picked a listing off a local wish wall * "We gonna weed this senior citizen's garden!"
"Ah i see spider you want to mak me do peasant work."
"There's nothing lowly about honest work"
"Easy for you to say"
[Hornet gets down in the dirt & starts weeding]
[Lace participates mostly out of some competitive impulse]
Senior Citizen: "Thank you! You've been such a big help!"
Lace: [mumbles tsundere-ly about how it was no bother, but actually gets motivated to do more similar stuff]
[My angst-obsessed brain spits out a scenario where she has a hard time adjusting to being seen/treated in a positive way cause it's unfamiliar/uncomfortable and maybe makes some mistake acting in a counterproductive way, or starts to feel guilty cause she used to off ordinary citizens with no great thought, but, eh, this could also come to a positive resolution that leads to her finding little ways to participat despite her differences etc. ]
I could also see the Knight trying their usual "give the grouch a little trinket" method. It worked on Oro.
I guess it's hard to think of poking fun scenarious with someone whose existence is so interwoven with Horror implications. Though that's exactly why she'd need/deserve some fun /whimsy/ normalcy all the more.
