How I would fix Gears of war 4 (opinions welcomed)
Hihi! I've been watching videos on why Gears of war 4 and 5 sucked or were bad so I came up with ways to fix only gears 4 (gears 5 can not be saved, sorry)
Step one: remove Gears 5 from the canon. It never happened. There is no Gears 5 in canon
Step two: Keep the facism element. You think facism would fade away?...maybe. But in Sera, it doesn't. It can't. It's like a tick dug in too deep, you can't remove it. Have Jinn and the other first ministers be fascist or a problem in their own way (except Anya. She can do no wrong...well, maybe a bit of wrong)
Step three: Keep Jinn's speech in the opening of the game BUT...have the flashes be the massacre of Settlement 2 mixed in with a little bit of aspho fields (maybe. Might change this)
Step four: Show us the true version of events compared to what the COG or Jinn told the rest of Sera. Did a civilian actually throw something or did Jinn give a fucked up command? Show, don't tell
Step five: Have the game be about a soldier (James Or JD in this case) trying to move through the world while fighting against guilt, trauma, PTSD, the horrid government of his world, and COG soldiers who want him dead (reason why in step six)
Step six: Do you remember when Kait went AWOL and nothing happened to her in Gears 5? No? Good. In this version of gears 4, Jd (and possibly Del, should he leave with Jd after settlement 2) is a wanted man. The COG possibly wants him dead from his 'crimes' of leaving. Meaning the new enemy wouldn't be knock-off locust but COG soldiers. Possibly even onyx guards (the best of the best).
Step seven: KEEP. THE. LOCUST. DEAD. Don't give them a fancy name and a horrid coat of paint! Dead! They are dead! Gone! Keep it that way!
And the last step...Step eight: Add new weapons and reasons as to why Jd uses them (keep in mind, I do play frontiers of pandora so this may sound weird). Jd might not use guns after Settlement 2. Why? He might believe the metal of the guns has tainted him. 'Well fly, what would he use instead', I hear you say. Bows! Pure wooden bows! No chance of jamming, no need to reload, no need to hunt down ammo packs. However, there might be a high-ish chance of his bow or bows breaking or him running out of arrows. The next weapons could be a spear thrower but that might make him seem too...na'vi, I guess.
