how do you write emotions and the gradual progression from friends to lovers and then write tender but hot ~*love*~ scenes asking for an emotionally-constipated friendâŚ
Step 1: Yearn. Yearn so hard it hurts. Yearn for love, for friendship, for companionship. Yearn like youâve never yearned before.
Step 2: Begin with gentle exploration of their friendship. Light, shallow interactions, with stirrings of the depth that is to come. Write little fluffy scenes and small interactions.Â
Step 3: Think about the characters. Think about them more. Think of what they might share with the other as their friendship grows, what their fears and loves are. Think about who and what they care about and how to show it.
Step 4: Write more interactions. Write more serious interactions. Write emotional vulnerability, as they slowly open up to each other. Write the serious stuff, but donât ever forget the little fluffy moments. Write little familiar interactions that show how well they know each other, as well as deeper talks about whatever they fear or love or want to share.Â
Step 5: Now youâre going to use that yearning from the first step. Write that yearning into your work, either overtly or subtly. Have the characters longing, whether they know it or not. Write characters who donât quite know what theyâre longing for, or write them knowing what they want and yet knowing they canât have it. Write accidental brushes of hands, lingering glances, confusion.Â
Step 6: Write them getting what they want. It can be a big dramatic confession, or a soft subtle thing, but write them opening up to each other and a gentle scene of acceptance of each other and joy at finally being loved by the other. Imagine how wonderful it must feel to finally have resolution after so many years of yearning.
Step 7: Write them loving and caring for each other. Write more small interactions that show the true nature of their relationship. Write soft hand touches. Write little morning routines. Write them listening to the other and communicating. Write things that show how they care for each other and want the other to be comfortable.
Step 8: Resolve the story. You can use a âhappily ever afterâ type ending, or a softer ending that includes the promise of what is to come and implies the course of their relationship after. Write about how they will continue their love and their little routines.Â
Step 9: Congratulations! Youâve written friends-to-lovers! Give yourself a big pat on the back!Â
Step 10: Now go back and edit. Add in even more small moments and even more yearning. You can never have too much yearning. Now, youâre finally done. Pat yourself on the back again.
Now concludes Semperâs 10-step guide to writing friends-to-lovers, based off absolutely nothing because his only relationships have been nothing like that. I hope my stupid rambling helped, and good luck with the writing!
!!! This is a much more helpful response to my whining than I expected!! Thank you so much! <3
if you donât want to start with yearning, Iâm always a sucker for when the POV character keeps describing how cool and awesome the other character is with increasing frequency and in longer and more descriptive terms until they go âI think I might like themâ like theyâre the last person to know and then everybody reading it goes NO DUH DUMB ASS! ABOUT TIME YOU NOTICED!Â

Everyone always acts though. That they would've interfered, they would've done something. Upham had never once before been into combat before. He wasn't meant to he in combat. Y'all better shut up or imma get angryđ¤

Fun AU idea
Wade survives and eventually meets Roe and Spina. They trade stories about their respective companies and the dumbest injuries they've treated.
Roe and Spina: Our company can't go a day without someone getting shot in the ass.
Wade: Upham dropped a typewriter on his foot.

LOOK WHAT A BABY
Thank u~ could you make an imagine where the reader is part of the Basterds as a simple soldier? And maybe she has a big crush for Corporal Wicki, but she doesn't have the courage to come forward because she is too young and shy and merely observes him secretly.
I got you! Know it took really long, but itâs up!
âYouâre still up?â Laytonâs voice pulled her attention away from the sheets of paper scattered around her desk, filled with an unintelligible code. Her eyes remained on the paper as she answered. âThere has to be a pattern. I tried using past code but there seems to be something different about this. It doesnât make any sense.â He shook his head. âYou know what my wife told me? She told me that it wouldnât matter whether I would work myself to death. And the same is for you. You should take a rest.â She shook her head, while scribbling something on a spare paper lying around. âI canât. I have to get him back.â
...
âMaybe I shouldnât have started dating Murray in the first place. Itâs all my fault.â

Request- could you make an imagine where the reader is part of the Basterds as a simple soldier? And maybe she has a big crush for Corporal Wicki, but she doesn't have the courage to come forward because she is too young and shy and merely observes him secretly.
A/N: I'm so so so sorry this took so long! I definitely loved writing this request, since itâs a bit different than what Iâd usually write. Iâm also very unsure about how it turned out, so I hope you enjoy!
You were never anything special. You didnât have any talents, you werenât abnormally good at something, you were just an average girl. An average girl in the war, you must read. Girls in the war where a whole another thing, but you knew Aldo Raine well, and he knew damn well how you handled a weapon. Gun, knife, hands, that were things you were good with. And thus, he recruited you for the Basterds. You usually stayed in the back, not drawing too much attention to yourself. You were never one to be in the spotlight, and especially as a woman between these men, that was the last thing you wanted.
But one of those men made your heart beat ten times faster. Corporal Wilhelm Wicki. Now, you weren't exactly the most confident person, to say the least. The back was were you preferred to be. And that was where you remained. You were a great soldier but Aldo respected your wishes of staying more in the back.
But that man, he made you want to be noticed. You wished that he could just hold you, but this was the war. The war wasn't a place for love, and you were too shy anyway. So you never really spoke to him, only when it was mandatory. You never spoke much either way, so it didn't make a difference.
He barely even noticed you. That was, until he managed to wound his hand, and you were the only available to take care of him. The others were doing their things, being Basterds, killing Nazi's. So he ran to you, taking cover with you, and showed. A large wound was seen on his palm, and you immediately dropped your weapon. You weren't a nurse, but you knew how to at least disinfect and bandage up the wound. With each move and touch you were as gentle as possible, making sure you didn't hurt him. Just a few meters away a heavy gunfight took place, but you barely even noticed it. You applied some sulfa to the wound, and then did your best attempt to bandage him up. If you looked at it yourself, it wasn't even that bad!
But before you could even turn away to clean up, he had already gone back. You wouldâve called after him, but you couldnât. Something inside of you stopped you. Maybe it was the anxiety, or maybe it was just the adrenaline. You hadnât processed it at all.Â
And like that, you continued to admire him from afar. You were asked more and more to function as a nurse, and sometimes you were convinced Wicki came for each and every little scratch. But maybe thatâs just what you wanted.
One day, youâd get your happy ending.
Everyone always talks shit about Upham, and how he should have acted. But would you, could you, frozen by fear, scared of death, never even been in a battlefield, have acted? In this argumentative essay-
