Would you like Hannigram to turn sexual or do you think their relationship "transcends" sex or whatever?

i just want to preface this by saying i am not mlm so my authority on this matter is very much lacking, but personally i think the whole ‘queer couple is too in love to have a sexual relationship’ is a super homophobic tactic used in all forms of media. sex between men has always been demonized as something both sinful and unromantic, and the whole ‘they trancend sex’ is basically only ever applied to mlm couples, as if them having sex ‘sours’ their bond which is...so homophobic.

i think that along the lines of the story, it would make sense for them to have a physical relationship because of the way the show uses eroticism to portray the bonds between characters! think about the ortolan scene, the bullet removal scene, etc, all of these are deliberate uses of eroticism to further a plot centered around chemistry. from a writing standpoint, it would just be a natural progression and the whole ‘love trancends mlm sex’ thing is very fucked up imo. again im not mlm so i feel uncomfortable explaining any further but !!!

i think what really gets me about nbc hannibal is that yes, they want each other because of the poetics of bloodlust and violence, because they ‘afford each other an experience [they] may not otherwise have had’, because they see themselves in the horror of the other, because they both know that there are ‘holes in the floor of the mind,’ but over and beyond that, they love each other.

hannibal offers will to leave earlier than they planned, without killing jack, because by mizumono, he loves will on a more profound level even than the violence that he holds so close. will tries to stab hannibal in dolce and there’s very little passion in it, but when he clings to hannibal afterwards, he truly means that gesture as profoundly as he’s ever meant anything in his life.

honestly tho i hate those fanfics where Hannibal is the “alpha”, or like in complete control of Will, or super manipulative or whatever like lets think about this. He sat up in the bed, trembling, despite how he felt as though he were suffocating. His heart pounded in his chest and he heaved in a deep breath. Sweat made his shirt cling to him and his hair stick to his forehead causing him to grimace. A warm hand laid heavy in his shoulder, he turned to look over at Hannibal, wide eyes blinking in the dark. Strong arms wrap around him, he leans into the embrace and slowly his trembling subsides. Hannibal is with him, a steady, comforting presence — it is not Elise Nichols laying next to him, pale and still in the way only the dead can be. But behind his eyelids he could still see antlers dripping blood. He shakes his head, pushing away lingering emotions that were not his own. “Sorry for waking you.” he says in a quiet voice, a disappointment in himself beginning to weigh on him.

A mass of damp hair and skin, Will smells of sweat and fear. “There is nothing to apologize for,” Hannibal assures with an even tone meant to be soothing. Though the trembling has stopped, he can feel Will’s distress in the tightness of his muscles. It’s as if anxiety is radiating from him in waves.

It is not the first difficult night Will has had in their bed, or even the first recent one.Rather than immediately press for an explanation, Hannibal knows to wait for the initial intensity to pass. He does so with patience as he helps Will out of his drenched shirt and doesn’t speak until he has settled somewhat in his arms.
