Glad I’m doing the mockup. Turns out I’m not /that/ much bigger than I thought. But now these don’t fit either. I can take out an inch from the center back but I’ll need to take out more than that… and it’ll need to be from the side seams

Aaaaand I had cut from the smallest size from the plus size pack, and I’d have to throw another 20 bucks to get the regular size pack…

I've been thinking about making this outfit for my Kermit for a while now, but the proper motivation to actually get this done was hearing that Cary Elwes was announced as a guest for my local comic convention! So with any luck Dread Pirate Frogerts will be getting to meet the real Westley very soon.

The hedgehog style was fashionable in the 1780s and 1790s. This is the very big enormous hair full of curls that seems easily done and wildly styled, you can see it all the time in Thomas Gainsborough portraits. In a very very basic way its a mess of “short” and tight curls an a longer tail of straight or slightly curled hair on the back or side:

My favourite references for this hairstyle (that could be of different sizes, lengths and curls) are definitely the wigs worn by Keira Knightley in The Duchess (and this remind us that this hairstyle looks AWESOME with hats):

Looking in the internet I found many tips and tutorials but I have to say that the ones by Lauren from American Duchess are the best. Not only are easily explained but she have tried different wigs, styles, qualities and depending on what we’re looking for an what we have there’s a nice option for this. So take a look at the link bellow:

First of all, for reference and tutorials by an expert, there’s this book “18th Century Hair and Wig Styling” by Kendra van Cleave (from the Demodé blog). I don’t own it (yet) but it seems to be a great book and shares techniques to use in real and synthetic hair.

This girl Vivcore is more into gothloli stuff but it’s pretty easy to change the styling she uses for something more accurate for this half wig she does from scratch.

Now, if you’re lucky enough to have hair you can follow Abby’s instructions. You can also make it with a wig!

Now a video. The girl from Festiveattyre shows how to wear (easily) a turban with 1790s hairstyle. She wears a half wig (very easily made) and mixes her own hair, so if you have hair (not my case) this would look great.

Now this is the American Duchess section XD Lauren has many tutorials so you can use the one you find it better. We can start with the one of how to make an 18th century wig using a Halloween cheap wig (not styled in hedgehog but that can be fixed).

Also with a Halloween wig, this one can be fixed with practically no work and look rather good (I might use this one, I’m not sure already).

 Curling a half wig and mix it with your hair this way also looks good:
