They say friendships come from the most unlikely places, and when it comes to you and Minhyun, that sure as hell is true

you’d just moved into your new apartment in the city, ready to start a new job and start a new chapter in your life

when you woke up one morning to smell something cooking in your kitchen, and someone there who you didn’t recognise...

a very beautiful ghost (triple points for everyone who gets this reference!!)

turned out, he just so happened to live at your apartment when he died - but he did reassure you he didn’t die in the apartment, because jeez that would be a problem!!

he told you all about himself, he was 22 when he died and he was training to be a singer, and his case was never solved, that’s why he’s still in this realm

and honestly? after he agreed to sleep on the sofa you were glad to have him around

you weren’t exactly sure how the whole ghost thing worked, but you could touch him and he could touch you - which also meant he could cook your food for you ayeee

so that’s what he did!

he couldn’t complain - it’s not like he could leave the apartment and it gave him something to do rather than watching tv all day

you quickly became the best of friends, literally within a week... probably because you spent so much time together

but you soon realised only you could see him

one of your colleagues at work came over one day, and you were fully ready to introduce them to Minhyun when they just... walked right through him

it was a bit of a shock to both of you, who stared wide eyed at each other in shock

“Does this mean only I can-?”

“I suppose so! I’ll stay quiet so you don’t seem crazy!!”

and that’s just what happened every time someone had to come over

sure it was annoying, but you didn’t exactly want everyone to find out your new best friend was a ghost

but then another issue popped up...

a little thing called a crush

yeah, shocking, you developed a crush on a GHOST

you weren’t sure when you started noticing how the stars seemed to shine in his eyes, or how his cheeks would light up all pink whenever he smiled

but it was adorable, even if he was a little annoying

and you sure as hell were whipped

buuut it was something you had to hide, if anyone of your friends asked to see the guy you were crushing on well... they wouldn’t be ABLE to see

so you kept on hiding your crush, on and on and on until one day

one day you accidentally exposed yourself

your friend had just left after being over, and you’d let minhyun back into the living room

he flopped down on the sofa, patting the seat next to him as an invitation

“Let’s watch Ghost!”

let’s just say... you got about halfway through the film before curiosity got the better of you

“Is it possible for ghosts to fall in love?”

he snorted slightly at your question, moving his arm from behind you

“I don’t know,”

you sighed a little at this, looking up to meet his eyes

“But I’m in love with you.”

OH? oh.     OH!!

“Well that’s reassuring.”

he leaned towards you, tucking a strand of your hair behind your ear

“Why can only I see you?”

“I don’t know. But it doesn’t matter, I only see you anyway.”

he leaned forward again, breath grazing against your lips before pressing his against yours in a gentle kiss

it was unlike anything before, it was so slow, so gentle, yet it somehow made your knees still turn to jelly

you couldn’t think of anything - not a single thing - except Minhyun, and god did you wish it would stay that way

he pulled back, his cheeks dusted pink with blush and his ears a bright shade of red

“I don’t ever want to leave.”

you were more sure than ever that you loved him, it wasn’t a crush, it wasn’t a passing thing, you loved a ghost, and the reality would come sooner than you expected

it was a cold day, right in the middle of winter

you’d just finished working overtime at work and you were SO ready to eat some of Minhyun’s cooking

but when you unlocked the door to the apartment, it was filled with smoke and a pan lay on the stove with something completely charred inside

you turned off the stove quickly and scanned your surroundings, looking desperately for any sign of Minhyun, eventually resulting to shouting his name

you gave up after a while, chalking it up to just being him deciding to not haunt today, when you flicked over to the news

‘10 year old murder SOLVED: 22 year old music student’s killer caught!”

shit.

a picture appeared on screen alongside a picture of your apartment building, and sure enough, it was him

the man you’d fallen for

the man you’d give everything for

the man you wished you could spend your life with

but caught up in love, you lost sight of something important

he was a ghost 

and now, he’d never come home again

but every so often, in the corner of your eye, you’d see him

eyes twinkling, a sweet smile, and that adorable blush across his cheeks

a faint apparition of him

you were never sure if it was really him, or if it was your mind playing tricks on you

but one thing was for sure

you’d never forget Minhyun

….

you were about to find out

after a week of teasing from your friends over the whole ‘jelly’ thing, you wondered to yourself how a conversation about jelly would even come about….

in a supermarket?

you couldn’t think of anywhere else where there would be jelly… but even then it seemed so obscure that you were almost scared your soulmate would be a jelly freak

not even a week later, you were out shopping with your friends

as usual, there was the odd teasing about your tattoo saying “jelly”

and as much as the teasing was funny, it made you wonder… what would they have tattooed as your response… how do you respond to ‘jelly’????

you broke away from your friends to pop into the convenience store to get yourself a drink when you spotted a 2 for 1 promo and like… of course you had to go and look

Ah… jelly…

maybe this is how it’s meant to happen? stand here and then they point out the jelly?

feeling like a bit of an idiot, you stood there for a little while just to… test the idea…

but after about 10 minutes of no success, you decided to back outside to meet up with your friends

you spotted a new person had joined them, a certain Daniel from your maths class

he smiled and waved at you as you joined the conversation, holding out a packet of sweets towards you

“Jelly?”

“Oh my GOD.”

you looked down at his arm, and sure enough - ‘oh my god’.

this just got interesting…
