I just saw this tweet, but I promise you I came the same conclusion independently and definitely before seeing the tweet.

She is just that damn obvious, and Charles is exactly as stupid as we think he is.

1. The back and forth in public for security proves that they don't actually have people behind the scenes who do their bidding for them. Which means there is no project thaw.

2. The 6 days/two weeks/6 days visit with public engagements proves that they couldn't find charities wanting to be used as pawn by them. Which is bad for a return on any form.

3. The fact that we see more and more media pressure for William to "forgive", "move on" or whatever proves that meeting Charles doesn't actually help them. It doesn't even help the media, because we have more articles trying to include William than articles celebrating the meeting.

The William stories confirm a few things for me:

1-That Harry and Charles both understand there’s no reconciliation without William’s support and participation.

2-That Charles also understand the public did not like this meeting and he’s using William to smooth this over as a representative to the public. As in, “see, William supports this and you like William, so it’s not bad.”

Three things about this statement and BP's announcement (as we know Roya's report came from the rota):

"Hosted" is a very telling word to use. It's formal, distant. It's not close, familiar, or intimate. It isn't a meal either, and it isn't a long time either - it's an event with a clear, finite end time. (And we know now there was a hard stop to the meeting because Charles had an event in Oxford.) Not an open-ended visit with loved ones.

Camilla was present. That speaks volumes about this, as Harry has been on-the-record several times to not want her around or to see her. In the words of Jeremy Clarkson..."oh no! anyway."

Remember, Charles doesn't own Highgrove. The Prince of Wales does. Sure, Harry may have loved showing his kids where he grew up but at the end of the day, William owns the estate and William decides what to do with it. Not Charles. Not Harry.

More semantics, this time from the Sussexes: "meeting" isn't warm, cozy, intimate, friendly, familiar either.

They have no choice but to keep it private. The second they start talking about it, they have to put a photo out and if they put a photo out, the kids' faces have to be visible and if the kids' faces are visible, we're going to see a complete lack of familiarity between Charles, Camilla, and the Sussexes.

Meaning the Sussexes have to keep their mouths shut to keep up appearances of reconciliation.

I agree. Private meeting in the countryside without any paparazzi followed by a palace announcement proclaiming no further details will be released. It handicaps the Sussexes from pretending it was anything more.

The games were necessary, though - the games were probably how Harry finally finagled the invitation from Charles.

And sure, it's great Harry and Meghan's children finally got to meet Harry's father but what about Meghan's father?

Protocol is that all family members who attend events with principle royals are enfolded into their security scheme. This was confirmed in one of the RAVEC lawsuit releases. So as long as Harry and his family are at the same event as Charles - aka Birmingham Invictus's opening ceremony - they'll get RPO security.

Like many of us have thought all along - Birmingham 2027 is truly "do or die" time for Invictus. The lack of press attention this week completely proves it.

Unfortunately, it does increase the probability of Meghan meghanning Birmingham Invictus as she's so controversial (and other adjectives) that her presence would bring attention.

It's truly a sad and horrific situation all around, but you gotta love the Sussexes always getting knocked down.

I think William certainly has a plan for handling the Sussexes and hopefully it involves taking the titles. Whether he actually does take the titles will depend on how much worse this gets - remember, Andrew's titles were only taken once it became inevitable his problems jeopardized public trust and confidence in the monarchy and the British goverment. I don't know that Harry's crimes are at that level yet.

I don't think Anne would've been there. She doesn't strike me as someone to want to be involved in this mess.

You have a different impression of "hosted" in that you believe it means they stayed at Highgrove. It certainly would make sense why Meghan has been suspiciously silent; she's enjoying a luxury she spent the last 6 years dreaming about. But I don't think that's what happened - I think it's "hosted" as in the Sussexes visited for lunch before being sent on their merry way because I truly doubt anyone would let Meghan exist on her own on a royal estate (or a royal's private estate), even if tucked away in a back cottage. We know Charles and Camilla were in London yesterday (they had an engagement at the Zoo), and Charles was in Oxford for an engagement this afternoon after the meeting with Harry.

Yes and no.

Yes, because not only was there no apology (as Harry's been demanding for six years), Camilla was also included. Y'all know how Harry feels about Camilla.

No, because Harry has been fishing for this exact scenario - an invitation to Highgrove for him, Meghan, and the kids - for at least a year.

But then there's the pessimist in me. What if Charles finally gave in, not because the lawsuits are over, but because of his illness?

True, but honestly? That door has never been closed. It's always been left open. If that door was closed, Charles wouldn't have sent Tobyn to meet with Liam and Meredith last year, Charles wouldn't have played along with Harry's PR games, Charles would've packed his schedule with engagements, Charles wouldn't be offering a royal residence every time Harry announces he's thinking about going to London, Charles wouldn't have tolerated Harry and Meghan announcing their kids go by HRH Prince/Princess now via People.

Then Charles will get what he deserves: markled.

Remember - just like their plans have always blown up in Harry's and Meghan's faces, so too will this. Just gotta ride it out.

Charles has proven to be exactly what most people thought many times over. It's great that people keep giving him the benefit of the doubt but a leopard can't change his spots.

I think the risk has been raised. This is a rough summary so far:

The will they / won't they BS just made them (and unfortunately the BRF) look like drama queens. It didn't do their brand any good.

The deliberate and public bad-faith briefing by the Sussex camp ("Harry's staying at the palace" when they knew he couldn't) made a load of sympathetic reporters look like fools and consequently they'll be less cooperative in future.

The Richard Eden "WhatsApp group" reveal has shown the hypocrisy of both the Sussexes and the media. Going forward, any PR narratives they put out will be less powerful and more questioned.

The court loss (and Harry's petulant response) has been massively damaging to both his reputation AND his bank balance (LOL to shared marital debt - Markle must be fuming)

Invictus has been a footnote. This week has been a disaster for them PR-wise. On one hand they've barely been mentioned - when they should have been reaping good headlines - and on the other their patron has seen nothing but drama and humilation, for nearly a week.

The talk is that if Harry doesn't raise sufficient funding THIS WEEK, that Invictus 2027 might be *postponed* (ultimately cancelled), resulting in Harry being booted out as patron.

As a follow up to Eden's reveal that reporters are fed stories by the Sussexes, Charlotte Griffiths went on record to prove that they deliberately plant stories to make the palace look bad. She states that the Sussex camp first leaked the "Royal Over-Seas League" meeting to her (and the DM ran the story) only for them to then run to the Telegraph wailing that they were horrified it had leaked and that it must have been the palace. This - officially and on the record -SHREDS any vestige of integrity they had left. Who would want to work with such backstabbers?

The other shocking tidbit put Harry in the orbit of Bill Cosby - using his social cachet to administer unknown substances to young women, as a test of trust. This is all kinds of wrong and will 100% come up in divorce proceedings

This was meant to be a triumphal return tour for the Sussexes. They were meant to reburnish their royal credentials with a stay at the palace and a photo with Pa, but in the end it's been a humiliating disaster. My feeling is that Harry will be booted from Invictus soon. That will be the death knell for the Sussex brand. "As ever" is dead, Archewell is reportedly having problems, Sentebale is suing Harry, Africa Parks is an ongoing horror, they have a mountain of debt (two court cases, "As ever" stock, mortgage) and their reputations are in the gutter. Money making opportunities are thin on the ground. If Meghan was smart, she'd cut and run because she can dump most of the above on Harry. It would also be a great excuse to wind up "As ever", without losing face.

Strategically and personally (IMO) Markle's best option would be to divorce Harry right now - lord knows he's gonna be hard to live with after this legal loss. That was his last crusade and he lost hard. I don't think he'll give up and I wouldn't be surprised if he tries to appeal, shafting them for yet more money.

She can claim all sorts of reasons as to why the marriage has irretrievably broken down and she can really make herself out to be the victim: his paranoia over security, his obsession with the press and never ending lawsuits, his (well documented) drug taking and poor character. Griffith's article is the cherry on top as it demonstrates long-standing abusive patterns.

I don't think there will be much left after a divorce, but I don't see them making much money if they stay together (even if she monetises the kids). Other than the ten-year rule, this feels like the opportune moment to pull the trigger. What do you reckon?

Thank God William had the foresight to marry this amazing human and not some simpering aristo that they wanted to foist on him. Some like Camilla or worse. He shows up his father and his brother by his simple choices.

I also guessed that there would be some last minute security “threat” and it wouldn’t be safe to bring them after all. 🙄 I’m not claiming that I have some ability to see the future or anything like that but that they are so transparent that anyone following this endless bullshit knows how they operate. If random American observers see it, why can’t Charles and whoever is advising him about this see it?

It’s sad for him as a father and grandfather and I understand his desire to make peace and see his grandkids. But H&M have legit personality disorders and you can’t even attempt to work with them in good faith because it will always blow up on you.

Absolutely NOTHING has been confirmed. All the articles I’ve seen, all the editorials, not a single one ACTUALLY uses confirmation language. Every single one says “is believed” or “is expected to” or “hopes to.”

You are falling into the Sussexes’ trap. They want you to get so worked up over nothing because it gives them the attention they’re desperately seeking. It also makes us lose all reasoning and forget about pattern recognition, which basically means you’re handing them a done deal. Which means they’ve won.

Now, speaking of pattern recognition…this is giving me September 2024 vibes. Remember, when Harry was turning 40? He spent weeks that summer publicly negotiating with the BRF and Meghan about what he wanted for his birthday, constantly having to reset his own expectations and lower his goal because no one was giving him what he wanted.

But Vogue wrote about this, so now I’m wondering if maybe it’s not just a coincidence. Vogue is speculating Kate might be hinting at a US trip and that’s why she’s been wearing American brands. But this isn’t Taylor Swift we’re talking about, why are they looking for Easter eggs lol. I don’t think Kate has ever hinted future trips through her clothes. I remember in 2023 when Kate wore a Singaporean designer and people thought it was because she was preparing for Earthshot, but she ended up not going that year.

Anyway, after the Vogue article I checked out one of the brand’s instagram and I saw that the founder even held some book launch event at that Godmother’s bookstore that Harry and Meghan love. Also, the “California lifestyle” is definitely part of the selling point of the brand. I might ignore this otherwise, but seeing that brand’s instagram is what made me pause. If this was maybe a bigger American brand like Ralph Lauren, I wouldn’t think much of it. But this seems to be a brand really rooted in LA.

I still think it might all just be a coincidence, but maybe this new direction in Kate’s fashion might still be worth taking note of. Maybe Kate is just enjoying trolling people, or maybe she wants to put her stamp on these brands before Meghan could even wear them to get back at her for all the times the sussex stans accused her of copying. Let’s be honest, if this was Meghan, a lot of us would be guilty of assuming meaning. I honestly think Meghan thinks she’s communicating with Kate through fashion lol. Like, when Kate wore a similar Ralph Lauren shirt that Meghan has already worn previously, and then a few weeks later Meghan rewore said Ralph Lauren shirt. Or Meghan wearing a different color of a Sezane skirt Kate wore. Judging by the Jill Biden lemon dress story, Meghan pays attention to this stuff. I’ve always assumed it’s one-sided, but this is the first time I considered that it might not be. I mean, Vogue took note of it. I’m sorry to all Kate fans who might be offended. I’m not trying to insinuate bad things about Kate, but she’s only human and Meghan has put her through a lot. I can’t even blame her if she wants to do something to take control of the narrative 🙈

Well, a couple things (and I’m on mobile so these are going to be scattered).

Kate wore American brands long before Meghan came on the scene:

The printed pants in upper left are Gap, from September 2016. The gingham shirt in upper right is also Gap, from the New Zealand tour in April 2014. The printed dress in lower left is Diane von Furstenberg, from a private lunch with Camilla in February 2011. The sweater dress in lower right is Ralph Lauren, from a December 2011 appearance with William.

Second, maybe Kate is wearing LA-based brands as a show of philanthropic support after the fires last year? (Again, like you said, I don’t do fashion so I have no idea where these brands are actually located in LA or if they were even impacted.) But considering that Kate’s fashion practices is to buy when it’s in season but debut/wear months later or in the following season, it does make sense.

Third, you’re right, Kate doesn’t usually Easter Egg her outfits like this, but that doesn’t mean she can’t support foreign brands when or if she travels. I know the popular theory of the Singaporean designer for Trooping was teasing that she would be going, but I always saw it more as a subtle confirmation she wasn’t going and this was her recognizing Singaporean talent as a small gesture of compensation. We can apply that here - maybe she isn’t coming to the US but wore an American brand to show support anyway.

But Kate has worn designers from countries she’s visiting/has visited before, like she wore Indian designers to pre-India trip events. She usually does it in the run-up to an announced visit but since KP is embargoing much of their advanced schedule, so perhaps this is subtle confirmation.

Fourth, maybe it has nothing to do with the brand at all. Maybe it’s about the message represented in that dress - it’s a red dress (symbolizing warmth) with a heart print (symbolizing care) that she wore to a reception for cancer charities and support of cancer patients.

And lastly, Kate has never worn exclusively British designers or clothes. She wears mostly British and she does have a good mix of foreign designers and options in her wardrobe, including American brands and including brands that Meghan has worn. She did it before Meghan, she’ll do it long after Meghan.

The only thing that’s different here is Meghan pays for the advertising. Kate doesn’t. Kate doesn’t need to pay people to advertise what she’s wearing. She never has, she never will, she is that persistently and culturally relevant.

Meghan isn’t. Meghan needs the attention, she needs the cultural relevance, and the only way she can get it is by monitoring Kate’s wardrobe and blasting it everywhere when something overlaps with or is tangentially related to Meghan’s existence.

I agree with you completely I think this particular attack has to do with that they refuse to engage with them W&C AND to have people rage reply.

The same way Meghan is not obligated to confirm her health issues and what steps she took Catherine does not to do so either.

She is NOT a head of state if she were a head of state then yes she would need to clarify her medical issues.

My other issue is that no one will touch Charles & Camilla's health issues. Charles the king, lives with an undisclosed, incurable cancer. Some talking heads even dared to compare the 2: "...unlike Catherine, Charles was transparent and open about his cancer..." No he was not.

Well, sort of.

The long game here isn’t reconciliation, it’s modernization. Reconciliation is just one of many facets to modernization.

Both Charles and the Sussexes think modernizing the monarchy means changing how the monarchy looks - more inclusion, more diversity, who stands on that balcony, the charities they support, the press they get. They seem to think that if the monarchy looks like it’s part of the 21st century, then the work is done.

William understands that modernizing the monarchy means changing how the monarchy functionally operates - communications, how they support charities and conduct their work, visibility to the public, the people they hire, the places they visit. He thinks that for the monarchy to be part of the 21st century, it has to truly operate as a 21st century institution.

And I think that’s what people are responding to more than just whether reconciliation disrespects Her Late Majesty’s memory - it’s an effort, or a response, by William to ensure that the monarchy remains and persists, that certain traditions are kept while others change and adapt to the times and the needs of the public, versus being a self-serving institution to flatter the egos of a few.

And we’re already seeing William makes those strategic choices, those small systematic changes to the monarchy’s core functions and operations - how KP talks to the public, how they structure and organize their charity work, how they prioritize duty to their children.

Here’s an example, from 2024. In January when it was announced that Kate needed surgery and was going to be out for three months to recover, the announcement came in a very traditional, very 20th century format - a formal press release on palace letterhead. It was received well, then went off the rails about a month later when the conspiracy theories started and gained global traction. But rather than to issue a second formal press release on palace letterhead announcing Kate’s cancer diagnosis (as Charles had done a month earlier), KP pivoted to a video announcement - Kate speaking personally and directly to the camera, to the people in a three minute video that could be clipped for social media and distributed on social media; truly meeting the people where they are in the 21st century.*

*I can’t take credit for this realization - it’s from a PBS docuseries I watched yesterday, “Kate: The Making of a Princess”. I had such a lightbulb moment when the commentator pointed it out.

So yeah, MM needs to stop her delusions because Kate can’t care less about MM’s trips. Kate traveling was going to happen as soon as she is feeling well and they need to prepare such trips with months of anticipation. It will be Mm the one reading these articles and already arranging more trips to compete with Catherine, but after the crowds in Italy and the reaction from the worldwide press, what competition?

Exactly.

And frankly at this point, Meghan isn't competing with Kate anymore -- she's competing with her past selves, and not just the Meghan from 2018-2019 when she was still royalling. She's competing with the post-Megxit/Oprah Meghan who could draw crowds by controversy. She's competing with the 2022 Meghan who attended the Platinum Jubilee and the Queen's funeral. She's competing with 2024 Meghan who did the global humanitarian tour of Nigeria and Colombia.

So regardless of whether she returns to places she's already been like Australia or she goes to new places like Switzerland, there is a competition. It's just with herself, first and foremost.
