Okay conspiracy theory here for cellar letters (I’m only on ep 24 btw)

Maybe instead of a creepy eldritch? horror following Steve and Nate (by the way WHERE HAS STEVE GONE, NOT HEARD HIS GOOFY ASS FOR LIKE 4 EPISODES) are just having water fights (or engaging in other water related activities) and they just have early onset dementia so they forget it all.
