Reading the original Beast Complex series(part 1)
I've been looking forward to this one.
Once in a while we get to be so fortunate to see the original pilot to a TV show or the original manga that would later become a world-know success. It is fun to see the original pitch, the un-polished work if you will. Like the original idea for My Hero Academia was not supposed to be about Deku getting powers from All Might so he could go to superhero school, it was originally about Deku being a salesman who sells gadgets to heroes since he has asthma and can therefor not become a professional hero. And no one in the original pitch had superpowers, they just lived in a sci-fi society where tech was used to be superheroes.
That is not to say that I don't like Hero Academia, I'm just fascinated by what could have been. And I do like the idea that the hero is not a school student because we have a ton of those mangas.
And I very much like Beastars, but I also like to read what Paru made while she was still in college, to see the raw art style we also saw at the beginning of the Beastars series, to see what she originally intended to do with Legoshi and Haru.
... I should just shut up and get on with the actual blog.
Thank you @homkamiro for this Mother's Day piece of my HC family.
Hey quick question- What Final Fantasy class would Pierina be?
i don't play that game so sadly no idea. I love answering nerd questions like that, but FF is a blindspot, sorry

I will write fiction for money
So, I just finished writing the latest chapter of my fantasy novel, meaning I can finally get started on writing a blog about the original Beast Complex manga Paru wrote that is basically a prototype for Beastars with a slightly different Haru and Legoshi who are also not school students.
But when I don't do blogging, I also write original fiction. Actually working on book 3 of a fantasy novel. And I want to save up money to hire a friend to do cover art and maybe even illustrations for the book.
So I will offer writing commissions. And I will offer them cheaply since if any of you guys will hire me then you will be my first customers.
So here is what we will do. You will write to me, asking for a relatively simple writing commission. It could be a Beastars fanfic, it could be another story fanfic, it just can't be several chapters long. You will then tell me what you will pay me for it and I will get started. Once I'm done, you will look it through, tell me if you are satisfied and then you pay me. You will pay me after I'm done since this is the first time I'm doing it and in case I overestimate myself and can't keep a deadline.
As long as you don't ask me to write nazi propaganda or strange stuff with siblings then I'm open for mostly anything.
Hope to hear from any of you.
Give me money!
Any thoughts about the upcoming Beast Complex anime series?
I mean, the trailer looks great. LOVE that it is drawn and not just computer animated like Beastars.
But a 2,5 minute trailer cant really make me have an opinion about the show being good or bad. But I am VERY excited. Just too bad we have to wait till December
@zer0tox1c said "...HAH??!! WHEN WHERE WHAT??? Where's the trailer?! How come i don't know this??"
Because April the 1st

Im done watching season 3 part 2
So much new content was added to the story... And it cost us some of the best moments of the manga!
It's not just what is missing, it is also what they changed. And YES I'm still pissed how they handled the baby chick storyline!
But the greatest sin is the treatment of Juno, she feels out of character, less confident. And they not only cut out the last date of Louis and Juno but also made her too nice about it. She left him after sticking his fingers into her mouth, to make sure he would always remember what he missed out on for the simple reason that she is petty like that.
Paru's gave us not just Beastars but other mangas about women not just being less than ideal but stories about women being kind of jerks without them being portrayed as "bitches".
Another thing, something about the tone of this season is too sentimental, not cynical enough.
And having Haru saying that Legoshi is who he is and is a person and not a carnivore is COMPLETELY MISSING THE POINT! Beastars (and Beast Complex)is a story about animals trying to act civilized but can't beat their nature so they instead learn to live with it. Legoshi is very much a wolf. A disciplined wolf, but still a wolf. And Haru is still very much a bunny, living with stress is going to affect the way she lives way more than it would a larger animal.
Love can't beat everything, that's the main point of Beastars. It can be a tool so that you can better face everything.
I can't believe I let my hopes get up for a minute!
@mfbookhead said: "Legosi still struggled a lot over the course of the final season though. Haru's dialogue with legosi at the end of the series feels like its a result of Haru not having much character development since chapter 50. Haru telling legosi at the end of the series that she'll always be afraid of being eaten by him feels like its Paru trying to make the series ending feel "realistic" when it feels like this is the result of the series having their relationship stagnate. The dialogue removed from chapters 195-196 is good because all it does is have Haru tell legosi that she still fears him because she never got a character arc that challenged her, unlike Legosi who got one in the second arc of the series."
I would say that the ending is not so much about Haru being scared of being eaten by Legoshi. In a strange way, she is at peace with the possibility. But what she is not at peace with is the stress of being in a relationship with him. Stress is affecting her is a very different way as she is a small animal. Rabbits can die from being too stressed. I feel like the anime could have included that.
@mfbookhead said: "While Junos ending with louis was a let down, Juno didn't act out of character in this season. She's the greedy Jealous type who never matured out of that."
I would still argue that she seemed to... I don't know, nice? Not sure. But I did like that Pina could play on her ego to make her want to prove how much better an actor she is compared to her.
@mfbookhead said: "Some great moments were lost like Legosi meeting haru's family, and Melons chapter about CSA, but them being cut is fine. Haru's family exists in a vaccum where this chapter could've been in beast complex instead. Paru never gave Haru's family names, never had her father reference anything in the story, and they don't appear again until the very end of the story either. This entire season was changed to actually facilitate the story Paru failed to tell, and make Legosi and Haru's relationship believable compared to the manga where its a miracle that she doesn't break up with him by the end of the interspecies relations arc."
I accept that this final season is more fluid compared to the ending of the manga. Cutting Kyuu almost completely was a smart move. And I agree, the family dinner story works alone and doesn't have an impact on the plot as such. However, the plot about the lion mayor and his scheme? I think I would have wanted it cut out completely and focus more on Melon as an antagonist. I do like that the anime wanted to do more with my favorite villain of Beastars, but I also wanted the story of the corruption of the Black Marked, to show how easily Melon could make most of the carnivores go wild so to say so we could see how fragile this environment is.
The anime showed me why I love the manga version way more and always has been. 🐴🦎🐲
When it comes to Yafya and Gosha, I hecking LOVED the Manga and how their damaged relationship developed overtime and how they found each other again beacuse of Legosi. Gosha still thought dearly of Yahya, but the horse was so blinded by betrayal all he wanted was to make Legosi and therefore Gosha suffer (diner fight scene in manga and anime) but after his manga version mission with Legosi against Melon and him actually needing to fight with Gosha once Legosi "dies" and gets hospitalized beacuse of Melon,
plus the visit to Gosha once he found him again which is how he discovered that Legosi is Gosha's grandson unlike in season 3,which was such a brilliant part in the manga chapter 112.
There's definitely growing compassion inside the old horse for his ex bestie which I love to see. In chapter 164,
when they go out for dinner right before Legosi calls Yahya about the duel with Melon (which was an adorable scene as we got to see how much Yahya grew to like Legosi trough out their adventures of investigations) the horse wants to spare Gosha from worrying too much about Legosi because he CARES. And that's hecking wholesome and all hail to MANGA Yahya and Gosha!!!
Plus obviously one of my all time FAV manga scenes is this duo in the final fight, trying their best to find Legosi in the chaos that is the railed up Black Ally Market, when Yahya trusts Gosha to protect him in the black out, when he wake punches him so they aren't too suspicious for the actual fighting animals, when he tries to calm Gosha down when his venom is too strong and destroys the bridge but Yahya helps him out!!!
Of course let's also remember chapter 188 in which Yahya calms Gosha down so he doesn't actually hurt Melon's "dear" dead beat dad.
@beautifulstarsbeastars @w2beastars what do my hecking awesome and inspiring mutuals think? 👀💕
I agree completely. A lot of the Gosha and Yahya content we lost is just criminal.
I think one of the most important moments is the hospital fight, Gosha showing his rage for once and Yahya realizing that no matter what he thinks of him, the last think the big lizard can be categorized as is "soft" or "weak". That he is still very fearsome, it makes him respect him again.
I would have made a complaint blog about the lacking Gosha and Yahya content in the anime and why those manga moments are great. But you have done it before me.
...
You have just made a very powerful enemy!
(joking, obviously. I'm not very powerful, so you should be fine.)
One thing I also want to add is that I have no idea why Yahya didn't use his connections to help Legoshi when he became a wanted fugitive. And also, even if we are to say that there was a reason or that it was impossible for him to do anything for Legoshi(I call horseshit on that as he is the Sublime Beastar) then why would the anime include that scene and NOT make Gosha kick his ass to get a scene similar to the manga moment where Gosha shows Yahya that his old friend is still a force to be feared?
Also, thanks for the tag

Pina brought WHAT?!
I love how the boys make sure Aoba will be okay while watching the chick.
... And I love that Pina brought him bird porn XD
First of all that he went somewhere and got it and probably got looks for asking for it. But also that he thought of it at all.
Pina: I got you porn.
Aoba: I'm watching a baby!
Pina: So?
Paru, you mad, mad woman XD
Some more Beastars. I may have just read hole manga in like a week. There is a lot of scenes I want to draw fan art for and the chapter of the boys with this chick was adorable!
Nevermind
Forget what I said about this being the best season.
They did the Three Men and a Baby story dirty.
It's not that the chick dying is wrong, though that also seems like missing the point.
The pacing is off, not including Aoba is strange and it suffers from a feeling of trying to be too serious that the anime has a problem with in general.
And Bill saying goodbye to the baby chick is bittersweet as he did save it with the help of his friends but also a but sad as he will never see the little guy again.
Hate that they off the baby 💔, like why you gotta traumatized Bill like that
And it just seems like they did it to make the story more edgy.
But seriously, not including Aoba in this part is strange, they are dealing with a bird! They would want another bird to actively help them, not just Pina asking Aoba without telling him what he needs the info for.

About to watch the last episode
Still not thrilled, not just because of the baby chick.
But to say something positive, I do like the idea of making the lion mayor a prominent antagonist
