the perfect Dick Grayson who passes on the Robin mantle with some (brief) angst, smiles, rebuilds his persona as a hero from the ground up, unites and leads various teams, is the "perfect" golden boy hero, and still -- deep down, so fucking deep down -- still rages over losing Robin. holds onto that kernel of jealousy and grief and hatred and never lets it die. that burning ember of this was mine and you took this from me but it isn't even focused at Bruce. that would be too easy. that would be too predictable. it's the ugly, awful kind of derision for his own family -- his own brothers -- who stepped into his shoes. this was mine, how can it ever be yours? he was mine. how does that slip into Nightwing's famously light heart? how do you balance that with the good of Dick Grayson, that sinister ember buried deep in his heart?
