Azzi’s marketability sets her far apart from her peers. With the new CBA, with Dallas building new facilities, with Dallas also not being partly owned by an NBA team, they NEED to put butts in seats and they need to sell merch. I’m sorry to all the Awa’s and the Lauren’s out there, but there’s only one player that can compete with Paige in selling out jerseys. The WNBA is not a business, not a charity house.

I think there’s a reason why every professional and most TV media have Azzi coming in as number 1. The only place that has her going lower are these second-tier websites written by - you guess it - Twitter couch GMs named Hunter. Anyone who’s in the actual know, knows that she brings way more than just a “potential.” She brings that UConn mentality, on top of being an elite shooter and defender. Now with this upcoming CBA, it couldn’t be anymore clear.

Completely agree with you that Azzi is likely the only one who can make a day 1 impact for their team. She’s just pro-ready, no ifs ands or buts about it. She’s an elite shooter that actually plays lights out defense. Shooting translates fast to the W and she’s shown that even on off-shooting nights, she’s extremely impactful on the floor. With the way these rookie contracts are about to be under the new CBA, it won’t make sense to draft a project player at #1

Just to be realistic, there’s maybe 1 or 2 first round picks in the 2026 collegiate draft that can and will make an impact on whoever drafts them. Azzi Fudd is pro ready and only the realistic pick at 1. What sets Azzi apart from the rest of the draftees is that she can actually defend.
