He would recognize him anywhere, any time, any place. In the crowd, in the snow storm, in the dead of the night. He would know itās him just by the way he moved, by the sound of him breathing. He could recognize this bastard by the touch, by the smell alone.
Even before Starkās mind could convince him that this wasnāt yet another dream, another cruel hallucination, his body already knew.
His muscles tensed a heartbeat before the loud snap.
Starkās cane went up like a fencing sword the moment the man in black moved. The first punch missed Stark by inches. He felt the rapid flow of air and forced himself to make a move, even though his every neuron begged to get overwhelmed, overpowered, ruined by this fuckingā
āDAD!ā Morgan yelled horrified.
That scream made Stark flip the cane, spin it, while avoiding a blur of punches. Each one of them could send him right into unconsciousness. But Tony knew those moves. He studied them as if it was a dance invented just for the two of them. Thatās why he knew when to go low, when to turn, when to slide to the side, merely getting brushed by the destructive force of this man.
And when to whack the heavy handle of his cane diagonally up, aiming for the spot he wasnāt even looking at.
Loud wham and oof were like music to Starkās ears. A satisfying finale for the first act of this madness.
He jumped back, deeper into the room, closer to the kids. Poor teenagers were stuck frozen between desperate need to intervene and brutal realization of what was happening. Some were horrified, some worried for Starkās life, but all of them struggled with the devastating mixture of heartbreak and fury. Well, the sooner they get used to that, the better.
Did Stark lie to them? No. Not exactly. He just hadnāt told them the whole truth. However, there was no need for him to do that, because they were going home, and heā¦
He was supposed to stay in his universe, once again completely alone.
The man in black battle suit slowly straightened up, still holding hand over his jaw and lower lip, probably trying to guess through the mask if his perfect teeth wonāt need fixing after this fight. And he was looking at Tony. Only at Tony. Like the rest of the world didnāt exist.
ok, I needed to write it down because right before loosing my job I was getting back into writing after years of avoiding it because of my depression and now I can't think anymore and yet I like this fragment and I like this fanfiction and I don't know what to do
