Voltron: Legendary Defenders Fanfics

Beata Maria, you know I am a righteous man, of my virtue I am justly proud.

In the ship prince Lotor glared as he watched on the screen as once again another one of Hagger’s beasts was destroyed by the accursed paladins of Voltron as the aliens of the planet were cheering and celebrating with the paladins and their two female human friends.

Beata Maria, you know I'm so much purer than the common, vulgar, weak, licentious crowd. Then tell me, Maria, why I see her dancing there, why her smoldering eyes still scorch my soul.

The drone watching the joyous aliens celebrate as they danced while dragging their saviors to join in. There was one figure in particular among the group that caught the prince’s attention as he saw the older human girl dancing and lightly laughing. “Prince Lotor is something the matter,” the voice of Hagger snapped the evil prince out of his trance as he looked at the screen once more before turning to leave the room. “They won again is the matter Hagger, your creation was a complete disgrace,” Lotor said now walking without another word.

As he walked the halls of the Galra empire ship all he could think about was the girl’s eyes; sapphire blue eyes that always looked harshly upon his presence yet beyond the harsh glare there was pain, suffering, a swirl of negative emotions yet they sparkled brightly as it felt like her eyes were seeing into his very cruel soul. After the first few encounters the evil prince has been trying to capture the unique girl that sparked this feeling of need. 

~~~ Time Skip ~~~

It’s been a few days since team Voltron took down the Galra’s latest beast as Hagger sent a soldier to summon the prince. “Hagger there better be a good reason for summoning me,” Lotor said entering the main deck area as he walked over as he saw the hooded druid along with a pool of mist in midair showing something. “Of course my prince, it seems we have some guests aboard the ship,” Hagger said motioning to the floating mist which showed their enemy sneakily going down a hallway. Among the group he spotted the one human he’s been obsessing over these past few months; Kaiser Sinclair who was in the middle of the red paladin and the tiny white haired human girl. 

I feel her, I see her. The sun caught in raven hair, is blazing in me out of all control.

Lotor continued to look as he remember the one time he came so close to capturing the girl of his desires; unconscious and wrists bonded so the girl couldn’t attack or use her gift of illusions while he carried her in his arms. The prince silently admired how the sun light shined in the girl’s black hair as her black locks gently framed her sleeping face. Somehow the group had managed to escape the trap they were in and caught up to the prince before he could get away with Kaiser as they stole her away in which prince Lotor escaped without his captive.

Like fire, hellfire. This fire in my skin, this burning desire, is turning me to sin.

“Send the soldiers to surround them, I have some... unfinished business with them,” Lotor said turning quickly to leave as he smirked, how foolish of them to come to the ship but then again it saved him the trip of searching for them. He was so close to finally obtaining her and this time he wasn’t going to let her get away. 

It's not my fault, I'm not to blame; it is the gypsy girl the witch who sent this flame.

The Galra prince wondered to himself what caused himself to fall this deep for the human girl with a unique gift in the first place, what caused Lotor to want this one girl in particular when he could have any female Galra he wanted; however, for some unknown reason he was pulled to her as he wanted only Kaiser and he blamed her for making him feel this way.

It's not my fault, if in God's plan he made the devil so much stronger than a man.

Whatever force took part in creating that human being was cruel; not only was the girl beautiful, but also very strong and powerful. Yet she was human, the race the majority of the Galra empire would never accept them as a partner, but here was the prince of the Galra empire who somehow was madly enraptured by the long black haired human.

Soon enough prince Lotor got to the location in the ship of where the enemies were as he watched the scene before him; the paladins, the short human girl, and Kaiser were fighting off all of the soldiers that were attacking them but the group was easily out numbered as he chuckled. Soon each one fell after another to the ground either on their side, their backside or to their knees bleeding from their wounds. Lotor stepped forward as he let out a chuckle amused seeing the group before him in such a weak position as he said, “And what do I owe the honor of the presences of the paladins and peers.”

Protect me, Maria, don't let this siren cast her spell; don't let her fire sear my flesh and bone. Destroy [Kaiser] and let her taste the fires of Hell or else let her be mine and mine alone.

When everyone heard the voice of the Galra prince they looked up to see him. Kaiser who was sitting on her knees lightly panting to catch her breath let out a small growl pushing on her hands to get up quickly to attack him, but was forced back down by a soldier with his laser gun pointed at the back of her head. “You’re not getting Voltron if that’s what you’re thinking,” Shiro said as he slowly managed to sit himself up but like the others had a laser gun pointed at him. Lotor walked a little closer as the group was a little scattered a little away from one another as he stood before them all. 

“In a situation like this I could threaten the lives of your peers for Voltron paladins,” Lotor said with a smirk before continuing with “However... There is something else a bit more valuable to me at the moment that is in your current possession paladins.” The group looked at each other wondering what he was talking about. “We’re not handing over princess Allura to the likes of you,” Lance shouted as he struggled to get free but shoved back down as the soldier was waiting for the command to shoot. “No, no, I no longer desire her but you are close blue paladin,” the prince said with a grin on his face as he turned to look over to where Kaiser was while the others gazes followed the prince to see who the prince was speaking about. “I desire none other than the captivating fighter Kaiser Sinclair,” he said as everyone’s eyes widened including Kaiser herself.

Hellfire, dark fire. Now gypsy it's your turn. Choose me or your pyre; be mine or you will burn.

“There is no way we’re letting you take our friend,” Lance shouted once again as he voice what everyone else in the group was thinking. Lotor looked to the paladins before saying, “Do you ever know when to shut your mouth? Besides it isn’t up to any of you whether she stays with you or not.” He looked over to her as she was already glaring at him with her sapphire blue eyes. “Kaiser you either come with me or all of your friends here will die,” Lotor said signaling for one to start as the soldier who was holding down Keith moved the gun to shoot the red paladin in the shoulder. Kaiser’s eyes widened as she went to rush over to make it stop but was grabbed to keep her from intervening as another shot went off as she looked to see another one of her friends get hurt. 

“I wonder how many shots will it take till you give in and come with me; or will you let all of your friends die because of you,” the prince said with a smirk as another shot went off this time hitting Shiro. “Stop it,” Kaiser said trying to fight against the two soldiers holding her back, she couldn’t necessarily use her powers since she didn’t have enough energy to do so. “Not the correct words my dear,” he said looking at Kaiser as she shouted again. “Please stop hurting them,” she struggled more as once she got loose from one they’d grab her again. Lotor motioned to the solider who held Kaiser’s friend and little sister figure Kari as the soldier had the laser gun to the back of white haired girl’s head with his finger on the trigger. “STOP,” Kaiser freaked out as she screamed finally accepting her unfortunate fate as she looked at the Galra prince. “Fine you win! You win! P-please just stop hurting them... I-I’ll come peacefully, j-just let them go,” Kaiser said as her voice cracked as she talked more.

Lotor’s smirk grew bigger once he heard Kaiser say she would come willingly as he looked at her eyes once again; the sapphire blue eyes that usually were harsh with negative emotions showed something different this time, instead of a glare it was a pleading look as he saw frailty, fear, and lastly vulnerability. The soldiers holding Kaiser let go as she slowly got up as she turned her back to her friends as she slowly walked over to prince Lotor; despite her friends calling out her name shouting for her not to go she continued walking as it hurt more with each step, but it was to protect them. She stopped a few steps away from the evil prince as he held a hand out to her as she didn’t bother to look up at him to know that he was smirking as she frowned. “Kaiser don’t do it,” she heard Keith in the distance as she slowly lifted her right hand and placed it onto the prince’s. 

The sound of clashing blades filled the room as two figures were fighting against one another and to the group’s surprise it was Kaiser fighting against Zarkon as the two lashed at each other as their blades clashed together. After another clash the force sent the two skidding back opposite ways.

“Kaiser,” Kari shouted as her and the group was about to run over to help until a bunch of soldiers appeared surrounding them as the team stood back-to-back of each other. Once Kaiser heard her name being called out she turned her head to look to find her friends surrounded by soldiers letting out a small growl as she went to run over to help them until she was stopped by a sword held in front of her as Zarkon gave an evil chuckle. “We haven’t finished our battle female earthling and take more step and I’ll cut you down where you stand,” Zarkon said as he looked at the surrounding group. “Well I must say I’m surprised you all managed to make it this far, but this is the end of the line for all of you and then I will finally have Voltron in my clutches,” Zarkon said as he looked at the human girl he was fighting a while ago. “But you child I have an offer for you; join me and once we rid of the paladins then I shall make you the pilot of one of the lions and then we can take over the world together,” He said as the group of friends could only look over to were Kaiser was standing as she looked at Zarkon listening to his offer only to grip the handle of her blade tighter.

Kaiser swinged her blade into Zarkon’s getting it away from her as she glared at him before shouting, “There is no way in fucking blood hell I’ll ever join you! I’d rather jump into a fucking black hole than betray my friends and work for the likes of you scum bag!” With that said the fight between the two started again as Shiro and the group attacked and fought against the soldiers that were surrounding them. The number of galra soldiers decreased as some continued to appear as the group continued to get them out of the way so they could help fight Zarkon. Kaiser and Zarkon were a few feet away from each other as she panted lightly but wasn’t going to let up just yet as her clothes had cuts and rips as she had some cuts and bruises.

Kaiser let out a small battle cry as she ran full speed at Zarkon with her blade ready to strike him down and once close enough she did, but she wasn’t the only one who landed a hit. The blade Kaiser had that she managed to piece through his armor turned into black mist as Zarkon pulled his bayard sword out from where he stabbed her and then kicked her away from him as she landed on her back as she slowly bleed out. Keith was taking down the last one as it didn’t take him long to beat the solider as he quickly looked over to check how his girlfriend was holding up; his eyes widened just as he saw her get kicked and fall to the ground. Keith was the first one to break out in a run for Kaiser who was down as the others ran to fight Zarkon before he tried to get away or tried to continuing to hurt their friend.

“Kaiser,” Keith shouted as he quickly slide to his knees landing by her side as his eyes widened; on the floor was a small puddle of blood forming as her hoodie was stained red. “Kaiser it’s okay I’m right here,” he said panicking since he should of been by her side fighting with her, this wouldn’t of happened if only he was faster as he cupped the side of her face with his hand as the sound of fighting was in the background. “K-Keith I’m sorry... I-I shouldn’t of r-rushed into battle without y-you g-guys,” She said lightly as she started to cough as he carefully put her head on his lap. “Shh, it’s okay you were only doing what you thought was best. I’m sorry I didn’t get here sooner; hang in there okay babe you’re going to be okay,” Keith said as his other hand gently smoothed the hair on top of her head as he leaned down to kiss her forehead.

“Keith get her out of here she needs medial attention,” Shiro shouted as Keith looked over to see his friends and teammates fight Zarkon. “But what if-” Keith started to shout back until Shiro interrupted him saying, “We can handle this, she needs your help more than anything so get her out of here now!” Keith slowly nodded trying to pull himself together as he carefully picked up his badly injured girlfriend bridal style as he rushed off as fast as he could to get to Red and fly back to the ship.

“Hey K-Keith,” Kaiser’s voice softly said his name as he gently set her down in Red while he was carefully taking her ruined hoodie off to tie it around the wound to apply pressure to stop the bleeding. “It’s alright, everything is going to be fine; we’re gonna get you back to the castle ship and get you all healed up just take it easy please and hang in there,” Keith said lightly as he looked at the wounds she sustained as her black tank top was soaked in blood as his eyes widened; there was one that was a long cut starting from her right shoulder and ending down on her left side of her waist. Then there was a stab wound in her stomach as he started to get chocked up but trying to keep himself together as he tied the hoodie around her waist to stop her from loosing any more blood. “I love you and I’m not going to lose you, p-please hang in there babe I know you can do you,” Keith said giving her a small kiss before going to his seat as everything was ready and he took off flying back to the ship. “I love you too Keith, I-I’ll try... b-but if I d-don’t please know I love you very much a-and please te-tell Elliot I’m s-so sorry I couldn’t keep his pro-promise,” Kaiser said as Keith couldn’t see but her sapphire blue eyes were swelling up in tears as they fell; she wanted to be able to life happily with all her friends, Keith and Elliot, but dying while knowing she was able to help take down the bad guy and all of them would be safe would help her rest a little bit easier as she closed her eyes to try and fight to live.

~~~ Time Skip ~~~

The battle that seemed to drag on for ages had finally come to an end, Shiro and the rest of them finally defeated Zarkon as they celebrated with joy that from that day on there would be no more of the Galra Empire. Kari was happily cheering as her and Lance were doing the cheer that Lance made at the very beginning until she looked over to where her friend and older sister figure was earlier when she was injured as Kari frowned worried about how she was doing “Earth to Kari, you alright,” Lance said lightly waving his hand in her face until she looked up at Lance. “S-sorry, I was just worrying about Kai she got really hurt in the fight earlier,” she said as there was a tone of sadness in her voice as Hunk and Pidge were nodding in agreement.

“Alright lets head back to the castle ship,” Shiro said as if on cue flashing lights appeared announcing a self-destructing count down. Everyone looked at one another as the group made a run for it back to the lions quickly so they could get far away from this ship before it blew up into pieces. Shiro brought Kari into the black lion for the sake of time as they flew off getting out of the ship finally setting course for their main ship and hopefully everything back there was going well.

Keith was sitting outside the infirmary with Elliot right next to him and Rune curled up on both of their laps whining as the panther’s ears were flat against his head worried about his owner along with the other two as they waited to hear about Kaiser’s condition. “She can’t die sh-she can’t... She promised she’d c-come back safe,” Elliot was saying as he started to sniffled easily getting scared of the thought of losing the only thing he had close to his blood family. Keith looked down at the younger brother remembering how long it took for Elliot to warm up to him since when Kaiser first brought Elliot back from being hidden away by the Galra, Elliot clinged to her and wouldn’t let any of the guys or me go near or even touch her. “I know but we have to have faith Elliot, your sister is really strong and is probably trying her hardest to fight to stay alive. And when she wakes up we’ll be the first ones she gets to see buddy,” Keith said wrapping an arm around the younger boy trying to comfort him while Keith himself was slowly losing it getting more terrified with every minute that passes that he doesn’t know how she’s doing.

They sat in silence waiting for either Allura or Coran to come out to tell them what was going on until finally the sound of doors opening as the three look up to see both the princess and Coran standing together. Rune got up and got off the boys laps now standing on the floor as Keith stood up looking at them. “What’s happening, is she okay, Kaiser’s gonna make it right; she’s not in any critical condition... R-right,” Keith asked questioned after question as a million thoughts and fears popped into his head as to what has going on. The princess and Coran stayed silent as they looked at each other exchanging glances as if trying to find the right words, but then footsteps could be heard coming down the hall. “Where’s Kaiser, is she doing better,” Kari asked skidding to a stop once she got to the small group who were standing outside the infirmary as the rest of the group soon joined.

Princess Allura looked at the group before she looked down to her hands with a pained expression on her face; explaining the news was going to be very hard. “She fought so hard, she was trying everything in her power and we tried everything we got in order to help her,” the princess started to say before looking at the group before her as everyone in the group was silent while they listened as from how this was starting to sound was already not good. Keith listened clenching his hands into fists as they lightly started to tremble waiting for the princess to continue; Kaiser couldn’t have died, if she did then the only one to blame was himself, he promised he’d protect her, he loved her with every single fiber in his body he couldn’t lose her now. “W-what are you trying to say Allura,” Lance asked the question that everyone else was afraid to as, but fearing the answer more.

“I-I’m so sorry b-but... Kaiser didn’t make it... Th-the stab wound to her abdomen was too deep to heal it quick enough for any more blood from seeping out... However she wanted me to relay a message to you all before she passed,” Allure said as everyone was frowning as both Elliot and Kari were already crying, they were both young and both were very close to Kaiser as she also loved the two very much. “She wanted you all to know how sorry she was for not being able to celebrate with you all on your victory, but she was so happy to have known us all and able to work with us,” Allura started to convey the message as she was trying not to start crying herself as Coran was blowing his nose as she continued speaking after taking a breath looking to the younger ones.

“Kari, Elliot, she wanted me to tell you both that she loved you both with all her heart and she couldn’t be any more prouder to be able to watch you grow this far... She asked if you could ever forgive her for not being able to keep her promise,” Allura said as the two cried more as Rune whined sadly as the kids ran into the room most likely to see Kaiser as Rune followed.

“And finally Keith,” Allura said Keith’s name as he looked up at her as his heart was already aching from how broken it felt as he was mentally beating himself up for not being able to save her, but he listened to the last words Kaiser wanted to say to him. “She wanted you to know that she loved you and thank you for always being there for her... And not to beat yourself up over not being able to protect her, she knew the risks of going into battle alone against Zarkon and she was more than happy to help carve the path to a safer future for the galaxy along with everyone in it,” Allura said as Keith looked down at his hands feeling his eyes build up with tears, but not wanting others to see him as he walked off to go to the main deck to look at the stars; he wasn’t ready to fully accept that the girl he loved so much was never coming back. Everyone frowned as the group watched him go off but knew he needed sometime to himself.

Keith was sitting looking out into the vast space as the stars shined as he was crying and holding a small object in his clutches. “If there is a god out there... Please let her come back, not only for me but for Elliot and Kari and all our friends. I-I wanted to spend the rest of our lives together,” Keith said while sobbing holding up the rose gold band that held a moonstone gem in the shape of a heart. “It wasn’t suppose to end like this, but now you’re so far I can’t even reach you,” Keith said letting his hand fall back into his lap as he cried.

The sound of the metal doors opening could be heard as footsteps could be heard walking in as the doors closed again. “Go away I don’t wanna talk to anyone! I just want to be alone,” he said thinking it was one of his friends not turning around to see exactly who it was as the person stood a few feet behind him. “You wouldn’t even want to talk to me,” a soft voice with an english accent said as it caught his attention as he sat up straight from shock. He turn a bit to look behind him, was he just hearing things or was this reality as his eyes widened. Before him stood Kaiser who’s hair was out of its ponytail stopping at the back of her knees as she had on the same leggings and jeans shorts but a different thank top with bandages covering her wounds and a band aid on her face as she looked at him giving a small smile.

He slowly stood up while putting the ring away secretly as he shook his head as he said, “Th-this isn’t funny, it-it isn’t fair, you can’t be alive... C-can you?” If this was all in his head playing games with him it wasn’t fair to his poor heart. “Keith it is me... I-I can’t explain it exactly but I’m here,” Kaiser said walking to him as he didn’t move still not believing that this was his girlfriend as he shook his head back and forth. “I-it can’t be, you died; Allura said your wounds were too deep to be able to heal enough to-” He was saying as tears fell until he felt hands up his face and saw that she was standing before him. “I know and I did but like I said I can’t fully explain it but I’m here, everything is okay sweetie,” she said gently while wiping away his tears as he wrapped his arms carefully around her pulling her into an embrace while being mindful of her injuries.

The day has finally come as the paladins were suiting up for the final battle against Zarkon. months of careful planning, working with the Blade of Marmora as some of their spies that were stationed on Zarkon’s ship have managed to slowly sabotage the ship’s defenses and such so it would not work on the day they attacked. While the paladins were getting ready so were their female friends were also gearing up for the fight. The two weren’t pilots of any legendary flying robot animals, but the two were more than capable of fighting due to their unique abilities; Kari who is the youngest among everyone else was capable of copying anything she sees, and then there was Kaiser who was an illusionist who could create anything or anyone out of a black and dark purple mist along with some other interesting abilities her mist can do.

In Kaiser’s room she was getting ready as a younger boy along with a black panther sat on her bed. “Sis come on I can help please let me come with you guys,” the boy with semi-long shaggy jet black hair said as he looked at his older sister with his light steel blue eyes which were different to Kaiser’s sapphire blue eyes. She turned around after strapping a pouch that contained her throwing knives to her left thigh over the leggings she was wearing to look at the boy sitting on her bed. “Elliot for the last time no you can’t come it’s too dangerous,” Kaiser said sternly as she picked up a hair tie to put her very long jet black hair up so it wouldn’t be all over the place. 

Elliot puffed out his cheeks now sitting on his knees on the bed. “That’s unfair! You say it’s too dangerous for me to go but you’re letting Kari come with you guys yet she’s three years younger than me,” Elliot slightly shouted at her. “You think I want her going either, only reason why she’s being allowed to come is because she’s too hard headed and would find a way to follow,” Kaiser said before letting out a small sigh before take a seat on the edge of the bed before continuing. “Look I know you want to help, but I don’t know if I would be able to protect both you and Kari and if anything happened to either of you I would never be able to forgive myself... You’re the only blood family I have as Kari is like a little sister to me and I don’t want to lose either of you.” Elliot slowly nodded even though he wanted to go, but he didn’t want to cause his big sister any trouble as Kaiser gave a small smile as she stood up adjusting her jean shorts and then her lavender hoodie she was wearing.

Everyone was now all ready as it was time to see the paladins, Kaiser, and Kari off as Allura, Coran, Elliot, and Kaiser’s panther Rune stood across from the departing group. With a few encouraging parting words from the princess it was time to head out for the final battle. Elliot ran over to Kaiser as he hugged her tightly around her waist as she lightly laughed returning the hug. “Don’t worry Elliot, we’ll be back before you know it so be good while I’m gone,” Kaiser said while ruffling his hair. “I will, but promise you’ll come back safely,” he asked looking up as he reached his hand up with his pinky out as Kaiser moved her hand to his linking their pinkies together as she said, “I promise.”

After pulling away from the hug and gave Rune a pet on the head Kaiser parted ways heading over to her and Kari’s fighter flyer as Keith soon joined Kaiser’s side as the two walked together. “Keith you better make sure you keep my sister safe,” Elliot shouted as Keith looked over his shoulder giving a nod and a thumbs up as the two walked. Once at the girls’ flyer Keith took Kaiser’s hand in his holding it as he said her name. “Hey Kai,” in which she looked over to him showing that she was listening to him as she replied, “Yes Keith?” Keith looked at his slightly shorter girlfriend before saying, “Be careful okay,” he said giving her a peck on the lips as she returned the small peck as she gave his hand a light squeeze. “I will be fine, but same goes for you,” she said as he nodded his head in agreement as Kaiser went to get in the flyer with Kari as Keith went to go get in Red. Once everyone was ready they took out flying out into space heading towards Zarkon’s location.

It didn’t take the group long as they were flying through space getting closer and closer as everything was going all according to plan the ship’s radars were down unable to notify them that the group was approaching. Kaiser, Kari, Shiro, and Pidge were going to head in first while the rest attacked the outside for a bit just in case part of their plan backfired but they would join them soon enough. Once they managed to get inside the ship undetected Kari and Kaiser jumped out of their flyer as Shiro and Pidge were getting out of their lions. “Alright team this is what we’re going to do,” Shiro said in a whisper as they were in a hidden spot so no one would see them before he continued to tell them the next step. “There are bound to be prisoners so Kari and myself will go and get them to escape pods so they’re safe; Pidge you’re going to go find the control room and hack the system... And Kaiser you’re gonna do what you do best,” Shiro finished as Kari and Pidge nodding their heads understanding as Kaiser gave a smirk nodding her head since what she did best was fighting taking down anyone who got in her way.

With their roles given they headed out to get right to work not wanting to waste a second of their time. Kaiser was running down a hall till she came to a corner as she slowed down as she calmly walked out to see a fairly large group of soldiers as she noticed one finally noticed her while alarming the others. “This is where it begins,” Kaiser said as a dark purple and black mist appear as she made a blade appear as she ran at them to fight.

Shiro and Kari managed to free the prisoners and get them on escape pods as Pidge was monitoring the cameras on the ship as she watched Shiro and Kari running down the hall as in the docking area Lance, Keith, and Hunk were now inside the ship and out of their lions. “Alright guys I sent you all the coordinates to the room Zarkon is in most likely, on the screen it shows that there are two people in the room but I can’t actually see who is in the room,” Pidge said as she sent it to everyone as she ran out to leave to meet up with the others so they could finish this battle against Zarkon once and for all. It took awhile as they had to fight against a few galra soldiers on the way but soon enough they all meet us outside the room of where Zarkon should be.
