hey! i think i’ve answered this before, but my comms are currently closed! i work in game dev full time so i don’t get much free time to work on art in general, which is why i tend to spam my art all at once? JGJKFG if i ever get the work/life balance right, i might open them in the future.

TYPICAL ARMOUR REFERENCE

finally finished volk’s base armour ref ! vyshinian uniforms are typically black and gold, but only high ranking knights have it on their metal armour (due to the cost to produce). when volk was a full time paladin, he would have worn more armour around the legs, but this is an unnecessary weight now he is more of a bounty hunter. 

𝐈𝐍𝐅𝐎 : 𝐓𝐑𝐀𝐔𝐌𝐀 𝐀𝐍𝐃 𝐑𝐄𝐒𝐏𝐎𝐍𝐒𝐄

volk has post-traumatic stress disorder. the severity of his reaction varies ; he experiences irritability on the lesser end, which if left unchecked, will often reach its peak in an outright violent outburst. his survival response is always to fight, likely because there was a time where he was forced to flee. he experiences depersonalisation during these states - it’s as if the volume turns down and his survival response kicks in, which is to eliminate the threat as soon as possible. this, combined with his unfiltered emotions (see: rage) and sheer strength, means he often doesn’t stop when he should.

his triggers are mostly combat-related and context-specific: decapitation is the biggest one, war chants and war drums, the nafelar uniform/flag amidst a battle (purple and gold). conversely, major wounds don’t faze him much outside of phantom pain in his eye when seeing eye-trauma... or if someone bites into a grape too eagerly.
