you slightly flinch at sae's stern tone. you were just grabbing an energy drink from the fridge when he snatched it from your hold. caught. and you can't even make excuses or whine because you know sae is right, "you look worse day by day," he scolds, and you stay silent, "how long have you been awake for?"
"...a while," you mutter, not even looking at him.
he exhales deeply, "cmon."
you grumble something but he doesn't let you argue, tugging you to the bedroom.
he takes your phone and places it on his side, not even letting you protest.
he wraps one arm around you and you lean on his shoulder as the two of you lay on the bed. sae forces you to read a book. and that actually helped. you soon felt drowsy and eventually slept. sae shuts the reading light, pulling the duvet over you.
ITOSHI RIN !
"go back," rin says sternly. it was morning when you walked out of the bedroom only to be scolded by him, "go. back. sleep."
"i can't...i've work—"
"take a day off. you stayed awake for god knows how long," you slightly flinch at his tone, "go back."
your shoulders drop as you explain to him that work is important. he doesn't buy it. he grabs your wrist, urging you back, "rin, wait—" nope. he picks you up, plopping you down on the bed. the moment you layed, you felt drowsiness and you rub your eyes.
"tsk. see? you're tired."
you tried sitting up but he didn't let you.
"you get up again and i swear i'll drag you back and tie you to the bed."
ISAGI YOICHI !
you sat infront of the mirror, the concealer stick in your hand.
"you're doing that again."
you pause hearing yoichi's voice. oh he was worried sick for you, "all this...makeup...it's not fooling anyone," he walks to you, kneeling infront of you. he takes the concealer stick and places it down, then cupping your face, thumbs brushing under your eyes.
"yo-chan—"
"you're shaking," he grabs your wrist, placing gentle kisses there, "take a little break from college."
"yo-chan, i cant—"
"you can," he leans in, "a week won't affect anything. you're already working so hard. just...just let me take care of you. no energy drinks. just rest. properly. sleep at night. and stay awake during daytime. ok?"
"...ok."
he smiles, kissing your forehead, "that's my girl."
MICHAEL KAISER !
"oi raccoon," he calls as he walks out of the bedroom. there you were by the dining table. energy drink infront of you while you doom scrolled. he snatches your phone and plops a book infront of you.
"give it back," you say weakly, trying to reach for your phone.
"no. you're going to read this."
"...a philosophy book?"
"read."
"mihya—"
"read."
"...how will this fix my sleep schedule—?"
"it won't. but it will make you sleepy for now," he sits beside you.
while you were reading sleepily, tiredly, he kept running his fingers gently through your hair, which made you even more drowsy. eventually you yawned, reaching maximum tiredness.
"alright," he closed the book, getting up. he smiles at how you were fighting to keep your eyes open.
he carried you to the bedroom. he makes you sit on the bed, him sitting infront of you, "breath in. breath out."
you were too tired to argue. so you follow him. finally your eyes closed, he gently guides you to lay down, tucking you in, kissing your forehead.

you thought taking a day off meant you'd finally rest, eat like there's no tomorrow, be lazy, cuddle your daughter to sleep. but no. the house resources ran out. from snackies to veggies. and the fridge had rotting leftovers.
you wouldn't usually let this happen but cmon. you're a working woman, who also happens to be a mother. these things are bound to occur once in a while.
"ma...i wanna go to park..." reva whines.
"that if you help me with shopping," you reply, already making a list on your notes app. reva pouts, her cheeks puffed up as she whines more about going to park. you wonder who she learnt that from. wasn't you. could be oliver. or...
the doorbell rings.
you sigh, not even having energy to scold.
"uncle ren!!!"
ren skipped lectures again.
he took reva to the park. which meant a possibilities of things could go wrong. which meant that it had approximately fifty percent chance of happening. which meant it went wrong. which meant they separated. and hence, ren lost reva.
"...uncle...?" reva called, looking around the now almost empty park, "uncle," she called again, her voice more scared now.
"hey...what's wrong? are you lost?"
reva turned to see a woman with short red hair and green eyes crouch down to her.
"uncle...gone..."
"you came with your uncle? do you know his phone number?"
"no..."
the red haired woman looked around, sighing, "onee-san will accompany you for a bit hm? im aya. what's your name?"
"'m reva. im four," reva says, holding up her four tiny fingers, "one two three four."
"wah, you're good at counting. do you like it?"
"i like butterflies when they're in space."
"butterflies in the space?" aya chuckles at reva's imagination, "well, nice to meet you, reva. i like your eyes."
"my eyes?" reva blinks, "you don't think they're weird?"
"weird? no, they're pretty,"
"pretty?"
"mhm. it's my first time seeing someone with mismatched eyes," aya explains, "wanna sit on that bench while we wait?"
reva nods as aya helps her get on the nearby bench.
"you know any family members' number?"
"i don't remember," reva says, shutting her eyes tightly, trying to remember, "no remember."
"...okay...do you know the address?"
"ma's? or papa's?" reva asks, making aya tilting her head, "...ma and papa don't live together...papa said it's complicated...he always says that."
"oh um..." aya pauses, not knowing what to say. never knew what to say to the kids that tend to overshare, "so...what about your ma's address?"
"ma says two buildings after park—"
"reva," they hear her name being called, "reva!"
"uncle ren!!"
ren exhales in relief as he runs to take reva in his arms, "reva...oh god, i got so scared..." ren sighs again. then looks over reva's shoulder to see her, "...aya?"
"...you? 'uncle ren'?"
ren glares, "yes. me. uncle ren. problem?"
"uh yes?" aya glares back, "you literally lost her?"
"lost? what's going on here?" there comes a stern voice, that belonged to none other than you, as you step towards them, grocery bags in your hands, "lost her? ren—"
"ah nee-san! its—"
"ma!!" reva calls, "onee-san is nice! she call my eyes pretty!" she says, hugging aya's legs.
you looked at the her. aya bows, "ah hello. im itoshi aya. nice to meet you."
you smile, bowing back, introducing yourself.
"tsk," ren clicks his tongue, looking away, arms crossed.
"what's that look for?" you question, raising your eyebrow.
"yeah, explain yourself, ren," aya adds salt.
"...you two know each other?" you look at them.
"nah," ren says in that nonchalant tone of his, "just my neighbour. no one really."
"hah? 'no one'?" aya repeats, "just your neighbour? that day literally—"
"nee-san, it's getting late," ren says, taking the grocery bags from your hand, "let's go already," ren makes sure to give a glare to aya before turning, "nee-san, c'mon already."

"papa teach teach!"
reva says, handing oliver a crayon and paper.
"alright, what do you wanna learn, chipmunk?"
"phone numbers and address!"
"hm?" oliver chuckles, taking the crayon and paper, "why ya want to learn this so suddenly?"
"cause uncle ren—" she pauses, remembering that her uncle strictly told not to talk about the 'got lost' thing, "uncle ren said...for safety," she lies for the sake of world peace.
"ah uncle ren. right," oliver starts writing down his number, "said something correct for once."

oliver sat in his car outside his place. late at night, too tired to get off, too into thoughts. he looks at the picture of reva on his phone, quickly clicking on the notification when he sees your message.

meet her tomorrow. she's worried you're still hurting.
it's been three days. three days since the fight.
you immediately knew that a brawl happened, you weren't oblivious. ren got a cut on his lip, oliver had to bandage up a little. cause after oliver swung at ren, he didn't care to after, as he just took ren's punches again and again and again. somewhat a punishment for himself.
when asked why it started, they gave a completely different reason. that was one thing both ren and oliver agreed to. for the sake of your mental peace.
and when reva asked, oliver said the soccer practice got too hectic. while ren fell on his face.
oliver sighs.
he replies to your text, staring at it for a breath before getting out of the car, pocketing his phone.
──── 🐨 ────
it was chilly at late afternoon. oliver carried reva his in arm. she was sipping on meiji probio, humming as oliver walked to the park near your apartment building.
"papa look!" reva pointed, spotting you on the bench, showing the cats-cradle with strings to shidou ryusei’s gremlins. minami and mika. both laughing, both then happy and excited to see reva, while their papa held their little backpacks, grinning.
oliver settles reva down, sitting beside you on the bench.
"minami! mika!" she drops the empty little bottle of meiji probio, "uh oh," she picks it up, throwing it into the bin before the girls then rush to play on the slide, both you and oliver calling out to them to be careful.
"i wasn't that disciplined when i was her age," ryusei chuckles, "she's safe with my girls," he assures, "don't worry, you two."
you nod, as you look at your babygirl looking so happy, making your heart swell.
"thank you, shidou-san," you say softly, "for taking care of reva. your daughters...they’ve been so lovely with her."
ryu shrugs, yet smiling, "they're happy to have a friend. and besides, you take care of my babies too. thank you for that y/n-chan. captain-chan."
"PAPA LOOK!!" mika yells from ontop of the slide, "I BIG!"
"wah! what a accomplishment! just wait you gremlin!" just like that, shidou ryusei rushed to play with the little girls as if he was one himself, while dropping their little backpacks on the bench beside.
that leaves you alone with oliver.
oliver took a deep breath, readying himself for the awkwardness, you didn't let that happen as you initiate.
"ive shift this wednesday. for longer time, that due to shortage of staff," you explain, "...the same day reva has ptm," parent teacher meeting.
oliver nods, "im on it," he says simply in a steady tone.
"what about your training?"
"don't worry, i've got it covered," he replies.
the silence followed for a couple of seconds, oliver's thoughts goes into overthinking. it's not gonna happen anytime soon. you seeing someone else. with the amount of work you have. shifts after shifts. he doubts you're gonna have time to date. still, he can't be sure of it all that time.
"...tell me everything after ptm," you interrupt his overthinking, "wednesday will go smoothly," you mumble to yourself, looking down at your palms on your lap.
"count on it. count on me," oliver answers. you slowly look up at him. his eyes meet yours for a moment longer than necessary before both of you look away. with oliver clearing his throat awkwardly.
from distance, ryusei smiles, looking at the interaction, shaking his head and smiling, "man's trying."
