Yes, you read that right. After much consideration, I’ve officially decided to become a system!

Seeing as how I've gotten a multitude of people telling me that I can't speak on behalf of system topics and / or that I can't partake in syscourse because of the fact that I myself am not actually a system, I figured why not just become a system! That way, such comments will no longer hold any real ground!

My system is still pretty small as of now, since I only just started making it last night. I've currently only got three alters that I've fully made, but have plans for at least five more in the works.

I never knew just how easy it was to become / make your own system. if I had known beforehand, then I would've become a system a long time ago, honestly! It's like making OCs, really. Getting to pick out the names, ages, genders, and build them piece by piece. Really, it's a nice way to get the creative juices flowing! My personal favorite part is getting to pick the personality, and hash out the likes and dislikes. Making each alter unique in their own way!

Not sure if I'm gonna refer to my system as 'we', or if I'm just gonna stick to using 'I'. That's something to be decided later on, I guess. Also still working on a system name...

Oh well. I know I've got plenty of time to work out all the details. My system is extremely new, after all, and it takes time to make a detailed, in-depth system. I'll make updates on the progress of how my system is coming along. As of right now, I'm looking at having around 20 or so alters, with less than half of them being fictives. But who knows, maybe I'll end up having ideas for more alters down the line! Nothing is set in stone just yet, after all.

By the way, if anyone has any tips for creating a system, feel free to share them with me! I'm always looking for ways to improve!

Since you asked for tips, I’d be happy to give you some, though I’m no ”plural expert” or anything like that. It’s just what I think I’d have found useful early on.

How easy it is to become a system actually depends on a person/being and it’s a totally different experience for everyone, same with creation of other alters. It’s easy to forget but once one becomes sentient, you might not have that control over them, like you would over your OCs. Also, it probably wouldn’t create a very healthy relationship between you and your alters if you had that much control over them. Let them be themselves! You might pick what they like now, but later on, they might just dislike it for unknown reasons. I would personally just let them explore things on their own.

Regarding the decision whether to use „we” or „I” while referring to your system, it’s completely okay to use either, of course. Just keep in mind that different alters might have different opinions on this and might prefer different pronouns than you when referring to the system. Take your time with figuring this out and try to listen to other alters once they’re with you :)

You might like checking out some BAH (build-a-headmate) blogs if you wish to create a lot of alters or tulpamancy focused communities (they have guides on bringing your headmates (they’re called tulpas there) to life, which I found useful early on). It doesn’t work for everyone, of course, so, whatever feels right for you ^^

So you’re saying that hate is okay but only if it’s not blurred with oppression and discrimination. Like, we can hate people of colour but can’t discriminate against them?

If i say "i hate black people" it can have an effect because its indirectly supporting already existing systems of opression

If humanity was oppressed in some way then would you just stop hating them? If yes, doesn’t that imply that you’d wish they were oppressed?

If we come to the point where black people are not discriminated, would it be okay to hate them then? Or would it be not, since they were discriminated before? The line between ’okay to hate’ and ’not okay to hate’ doesn’t seem to be so ’easy to set' now, does it?

Christianity is a religion. Religions include morals and beliefs, while species and colour don’t. I can see how acting on morals and beliefs can hurt someone, but species and colour?

From the beginning of your message i expect you anon to disagree with the dislike of anything at all. Disliking dogs? not okay. Disliking wasps? Gross evil people. Disliking flamingos? thats almost as bad as being racist.

That’s a bit of an exaggeration. I don’t disagree with the ’dislike’ itself, since that would be pretty difficult. I think most beings don’t choose to ’hate’ or ’dislike’, they just do. Sometimes it happens because they’re not educated or knowledgeable enough but sometimes it’s a complete different reason.

What I disagree with is trying to rationalize a dislike for a group that has no choice over who they are, for example, humans.
