ronan is a little weird but he's not andreas-weird (sorry andreas you are too one of the worlds greatest blondes), he just has a couple odd habits that are only really noticed if you dip before the surface level. i think a lot of people can be offset by ronan's somewhat extreme propensity for keeping his composure even in the worst moments, it's not like he never has those moments of losing his composure he simply dislikes having those moments for obvious reasons 😭 don't worry he doesn't have any insane unwarranted divorce trauma. he very clearly contrasts alex in this way because the former is the frontrunner of freaking out and overthinking every little thing which is probably why he's always wide of both eyes staring at ronan whenever he does anything remotely strange. alex's overthinking does have a habit of circling back into distrust of himself so the half-existential crisis he has about ronan somehow not liking him back makes sense in the grand scheme of things. alex is easily burdened by outside pressures (genuine or not) while those same pressures don't frustrate ronan as much because he sort of sees it as needed(?) story for another day again but the reason why is not typical isa oc miserably deep please trust me.

like obviously post-graduation and everything that happened in high school got to him really hard but his only reason for not having his geto-defection moment is because he did have a support system he just wasn’t utilizing at the time for very obvious haruki reasons (and people always give him hell for it like he never heard the end of it. god forbid a boy reels from the many traumatic experiences he’s faced back to back. leave him alone). teen haruki believes he has an intrinsic fate tied to what he is so he’s much more likely to not confront those emotions since he had stuff like school and the constant effort of missions to keep his mind ‘entertained’ enough. he’s always been at a rift with his most caustic emotions because on one end he used to perceive anger as all he really had in the category of being vulnerable but on the other end he absolutely despises all those vulnerabilities and will put a gun to his head before divulging them.

after haibara haruki has little interest in admitting that he’s terrified of having similarly intimate relationships with others, even the relationships in his current life suffered under his avoidant tactics because he was guarded about yet another loss which isn’t exactly uncharacteristic. haibara’s death should’ve been enough to completely deter haruki from sorcery but he was definitely overcompensating since he felt like the worlds shittiest son by no fault of his own (just terrible self-esteem all the way through its genetic). 20s haruki is intentionally much more isolated than teen haruki even with efforts to get others off his back via post-cards and life check-ins and immediate midnight birthday messages because he doesn’t want people to think he’s suicidal :) again. he doesn’t want an anchor but at the same time he sort of lingers around his old friends slightly, he just fears the idea of hearing about them after months of silence and it being news of their deaths.

kunimitsu and noriaki are definitely more ‘i would murder someone with my bare hands for you but i won’t let you borrow my charger’ which suits them well for the type of people they are. noriaki is such a bemused goofball who will always match energy and kunimitsu is a rather ambition-driven hard ass that is definitely a lot more unserious than he enjoys letting on. they clash, clearly but that really is the beauty of their dynamic because the two of them love those specific hair-brained insults whilst simultaneously looking at people weird if they take it too personally. he is so great at firing up that verbally competitive side of kunimitsu that most people don’t see because he wants to be collected all the time, they will bicker on end for hours about stupid shit and then laugh like idiots because it was never that serious. noriaki obviously outclasses kunimitsu in terms of energy but he has that unbridled ability to make him become someone much more extroverted than his usual ways, and kunimitsu will never admit that he enjoys their time spent or their arguments that have no real value. he would go to war for him, but he hates having to let him borrow shit.

like his flaws are obviously very present but he has had an admittedly tough time and is definitely trying to overcompensate for what he knows is his image in others’ eyes (being ‘lesser’ and unable to enjoy the benefits of a wealth backdrop which can possibly carry him for generations). it is also apparent that his talented mr. ripley esque attachment to the freelove’s began as slightly unconscious but eventually did form into something much more bitter and fueled by his clear envy, which most people don’t fault him for because look at how much they have.
