Denny Renshaw: Street Stories

Being primarily a portrait photographer I attempt to bring that experience to traditional street photography, without engaging in “street portraits.” In my street photography, I seek to create images that combine characters, storytelling, complexity and beauty. I am attracted to the difficulty of capturing moving people and moments that only existed for an instant. I would prefer for my street photography to be less about humor and more character-driven.

All serious street photographers follow their own set of rules that can be quite telling of their thoughts on the genre and the techniques they utilize. For me some of those rules are as follows:

-All work shown uses natural light.

-No moving of pixels occurred during the processing of these images.

-No subjects were collaborators.
