I think you mean these?

these're whimsies, but they're not the only ones, there are others. This is simply a carving project in which the Sailor tried to create such a work of art from one piece. It served as a pastime and at the same time showed his skill. From time to time, they held competitions among themselves to see who could create the most beautiful, most complicated and also the longest piece without it breaking. What happened to these pieces afterwards is questionable, but some researchers say that they might have been given to children as toys or left at home as trophies, or even sold to an enthusiast.

This portrait depicts Caracalla as a grown man, when he was sole emperor. He succeeded his father, Septimius Severus, who died at York in A.D. 211 during campaigns in northern Britain. Caracalla only reigned for six years before his own death near Carrhae in northern Mesopotamia while campaigning against the Parthians.
