I spent several minutes just staring at them (and trying to convince them to bite my fingers.) When my sister’s violin lesson ended, her teacher came out to the yard and explained that these goldfish were the same small creatures that were often unfortunately sold in plastic bags at state fairs. They were only about two inches long apiece, when she bought them and put them in the new, empty pond. In essence, they were like every goldfish I had seen before, but they had been given a much larger, much richer environment in which to flourish. As a result, they had grown into some of the most remarkable, vibrant creatures my twelve-year-old self had ever met with. All because of a pond.

i am mildly, not upset, but befuddled, as to why we, as the fandom that has our main character as part of an inter dimensional species, who lives in the place between all worlds and is constantly having crossovers with other universes, and is friends/family (depending on the fic) with the embodiment of time who can see all possible and alternate timelines, have never had danny encounter another version of his own world, or another version of himself. the infinite realms are infinite so how has danny never run into another version of himself. an au close to canon running into a version of himself that is like, from a soulmate au, or a version from a vivisection au, or a version that’s been around/immortal/fully dead for centuries! why do we never have danny run into alternate danny, especially since there’s often common places like the far frozen or pandora that he visits, i could mention clockwork but he is time and would probably be able to be in 2 places at once so the danny’s never run into each other. or like, how has danny never seen clockwork’s mirrors showing alternate timelines or worlds and wondered about them, or just like, fallen through a natural portal and gone from their world where he was dating jason to like, a world where he’s been part of the justice league for a while, or a demon twins world, or even just a world that isn’t a dc crossover or something.

Its a well known fact that ghosts are not human. Any Amity Park resident would be able to tell you that, even without the ectobiologists shouting it from their questionably legal tank of a car.

Danny Fenton is no exception, and really, he shouldn't be as surprised as he is.

Unlike the living, ghosts need ectoplasm to substantiate themselves. It could easily be found within the plants that litter the ghost zone, but like any ecosystem, there is variety.

Some ghosts are able to subsist off of simple grasses. Others prefer the fruit and leaves from flowering bushes. Some ghosts even strip the bark from trees to suck the ectoplasmic sap out from within their trunks.

But other ghosts are not meant to eat the plants at all. These ghosts with their sharpened teeth and claws are predators. Unable to extract the ectopalsm they need from plant life, they instead take it from other ghosts. Some are able to get by without ending their chosen prey, sucking out just enough ectoplasm to get by like a parasite. Others rip and tear into ghostly flesh and lap up the spilled ectoplasm until their quarry is no more.

Since his accident, Danny has become quite adept at catching stray blob ghosts, but they simply aren't cutting it anymore. The odd ectopuss didn't quell the hunger either. After the animal based ghosts failed to satisfy him, Danny was slapped with the realization.

Danny may be half ghost, but he is also half human.

Ghosts are not human.

He is so hungry.

Even now in his human form, Danny can feel the ribs poking through his sides. The shaking of his arms has yet to subside. He doesn't know if its from the gnawing in his stomach or adrenaline.

He can't put it off anymore. He needs to eat. But even though it's a fundamental need for survival his obsession tugs at him in protest. He needs to eat, but he needs to protect too.

He can't stay in Amity Park. That much is certain. The citizens of Amity Park are out of the question, and while the GIW started off as bumbling idiots, they have been getting smarter. He can't subsist off of them, especially with how weak he is in his starved state.

Danny is smart. Surely he can find a food source if he is clever about it. He just needs to flush them out like a cat after a rat. Or maybe he doesn't need to flush them out at all. Maybe he can lure them in like peanut butter in a trap.

His legs shake as he stands from his crouch. As he rises he licks the blood from his claws. Danny stares at what remains of the white suit, it's drying tatters stained crimson.

They've seen the dude eat shit so many times, they're legitimately surprised his chin isn't permanently bruised from how often it hits the ground after he trips. He's the son of the town crazies and there's even rumors that he's cursed or something, since there's been witness accounts of Fenton's eyes glowing green or disappearing in plain view. His entire time in middle and high school was spent being shoved into lockers, put into wedgies, eating the quarterback's underwear - Daniel "Danny" Fenton was not a prize and was honestly the bottom of the barrel for only the truly desperate.

So, explain to them why the fugly nerd managed to pull so hard once he left Amity?

Every other day, there was a new image or clip of Fenton interacting with a Wayne - the cream of the crop, the ideal of ideals, the ones someone could only dream of the chance of being in the same building as - and a headline detailing some new dramatic action the Wayne kid had taken to fight their siblings for Fenton's attention. If it wasn't a Wayne, it was some other famous person - even Superboy, the teen dreamboat, seemed to shoot his shot with Fenton.

Was there something that Amity Parkers were missing? Fenton didn't exactly look all that different from when he'd graduated high school. Why was the world suddenly treating Fenton like... like a diamond in the rough? It didn't make any sense!

Finally, they think in near unison, watching Fenton bite dust on live television, maybe the world will finally realize that they'd been irrationally attracted to a loser.

Instead, they watch as the world collectively is endeared by how clumsy Danny is and isn't that cute? A little flaw for what is otherwise a perfect person.

I had a vision for a strange chara-design, I suppose it’s some kind of an angel?
