This is me. My name is Jennifer, but most people call me Jen. I'm a piano teacher who lives in Nashville, Tennessee. As I become more accustomed to Tumblr I'll make my entries longer, but this is all I've got for now.

I am not into anime much. I mean, I used to love the old school Voltron from back in the day.

I did watch Castlevania and loved it.

All of my friends told me to watch Jojo's Bizarre Adventure so I watched the first season.

Loved it.

But two episodes into season 2 and I stopped.

I loved my mom. Don't get me wrong. But if I am being honest she put me down a lot.

I remember I bought myself a navy blue floral wrap skirt. I thought I looked really good in it.

She told me I looked like a whore. That girls with larger hips and butts shouldn't wear skirts like that.

I was 19 years old. Those words stuck with me far into adulthood.

I'm not saying I was a perfect daughter. I was far far from it. But telling that to your daughter...it changed part of me. Made me self conscious about clothes. Cautious to try new things.

Tired of hearing the argument that prayer should be back in public schools. Like it's some kind of magic bandaid that will solve problems.

When people say that they're meaning Christian prayer and aren't taking into consideration that not all children come from homes that worship God.

I just cannot imagine the fear this little girl had and the PTSD she will suffer through for the remainder of her life or the trickle effect it may have on people she has in her life in the future.

What is a trickle effect? Basically when someone has PTSD it effects other people in their life. Partners, spouses, children, friends.

Violence doesn't just affect one person. It scars MANY people for many generations.

Sadly this is how a lot of people feel. Closeted racist fucks.

For the more than 22 million children who depend on school breakfast and lunch programs, summer vacation means worrying about when they’ll eat next.

NO child should go hungry. NO child. Not anytime of the year, including summer when most schools are closed.

Please consider donating to your local food bank during the summer.

This is something that is easily done and you're helping your own community.

Keep these things in mind:

•Donating peanut butter is great, but if you do consider donating sandwich bread.

•If you donate canned goods, try to make sure they are pop tab tops because many families do not have can openers.

•Canned milk and dry milk are both needed greatly because they are shelf stable and can be mixed with water.

•Fruit juices in small bottles, boxes, or pouches with straws are easy for small fingers to open.

•Goldfish crackers, Cheez-its, animal crackers, graham crackers in individual packs and freeze pops make great snacks for little ones. Kids who get food from food banks love treats as well.

I don't have any Swedish friends to confirm or deny this, but this is absolutely wild to me.

I understand that people have other cultures, but I'm from the southern US and it doesn't work like that here.

If you come into our house we feed you. Whatever we are having, you're having too. It's a hospitality thing.
