A blog mostly made to complain about arcane’s season 2 especially its choices regarding Vi (she’s my favorite I have the right to that!) But I also like being positive sometimes and writing about aspects of her character that I find interesting :3

Oh and I’m pretty critical of all the ships, so even tho I talk more about cv I also dislike timebomb lol.

Like they could’ve picked at least ten other characters who had way more influence on arcane’s tragedies than vi, ahem! The entire council 🥴 but nah they thought it was more fitting for a zaunite child to be chosen as a sacrifice for a perfect utopia dying in an explosion caused by the irresponsibility of a grown-ass man (jayce) who got the hex crystals without any regulation (Yeah I’m not blaming powder at all for what happened IDCCCC

This was forgivable in season 1 because we could at least use the excuse that she was repressing those feelings too focused on finding Jinx.

But in season 2 they had the perfect opportunity to explore this aspect during her pit fighter era especially the violence she both suffered and inflicted during her time in Stillwater. And what did the writers choose to focus on instead?Well… showing how sad she was about the breakup with her gf (that she had known for like 2 weeks)

Not about how she never had the time to process the death of her entire family in a healthy way. not about how she wears the uniform of her parents’ killers. not about how she had to fight to the death with her own sister.

and not what I’m talking about here the trauma of being abused and isolated from everything for seven years.

This should have completely fucked her mind on so many levels but it’s honestly a challenge to think of any meaningful difference between 15 yo Vi and 22 yo post-prison Vi.

And don’t anyone dare say things like “But Vi was isolating herself in a dark closed-off room just like prison!” That’s an extremely common symptom of depression isolating yourself completely in dark enclosed spaces so it could very well be totally unrelated and thus irrelevant to her prison trauma.

Wait! Actually we do have a sign of prison trauma in the pit fighter clip she scratched tally marks into her wall just like prisoners do!

Hilarious. The showrunners decided to portray this massive defining trauma in an extremely subtle environmental detail but when it came to explicitly showing how sad she was about being away from kaitlyn they went all in giving her hallucinations about her.

The writers seriously need to stop pretending that vi had a huge agency in that scene. How was it impactful for cait that vi didn’t leave with jinx??? She was literally locked in a cell what choice did she even have here??😭😭

The funny thing is vi only said it bcs caitlin compared her to jinx first. She told vi she wasn’t different from her sister because they share the same blood. Meanwhile vi put aside her own dignity to wear the uniform of her parents’ killer because she felt responsible for Jinx’s actions.
