Well, this is cool. As an aspiring mastering engineer, it is my great pleasure to say that the first wide release I have mastered is now available. It Prevails have returned with their EP ‘A Life Worth Living’. Having known them and their recording engineer a long time, I requested a shot at mastering it, even if just for my own edification. Turns out, they loved it. I am humbled by it all. I also did a separate vinyl master for the 7”, which I don’t have my hands on just yet. I figured I would share this news with all of you. After trying a replacement stylus on the original cart, then trying a Nagaoka MP110, then trying an entirely new turntable; it seems that coming back to the 70s Hitachi with an Audio Technica VM540ml is the winning scenario. Only a few records in and I feel very satisfied. Vinyl can be a real bitch. So many things can be wrong. When it's right, it's the best.
