y’know , his people aren't human. not really , right. if anything the evolutionary changes made to the body alone could qualify them as more than human , but it's the genetic make-up itself and the body as a whole that makes them non-human. to say they're human adjacent isn't entirely true , the inclusion of their natural beast forms for most of them makes them glaringly human. and Saint himself is chimerical in nature , his beast form is vaguely canid , shares certain traits like the rows and rows of teeth and claws with crocodiles , and wide boxy ears of a hippopotamus with furr. my friend , Saint's beast form is interesting and very , very , unique . . . even for them.
do you know that gender and switching between them using both magic and biology is as easy as breathing?
do you , also , know that magic will take the shortest , fastest , most effective but conservative route it can. that means when it comes to switching back and forth it won't get rid of certain things and functions of the body that it would continually have to create and do away with each time the form is switched. this means that things like breast tissue and milk glans are formed and they don't go away when switched back. it means his uterus is still there when he switches back. the glans that secrete slick are very much there and are repurposed to the nearest orfice.
on the reverse , women it a bit easier with being able to actually retract and extend their penis from their body even as a woman. as a man to crate an opening to the womb is not . . . it's messy. it's easier to just fully turn into the body of a femme than it is to form it still in the masculine. it's possible just a lot.
these things don't form naturally until they make that change and Saint spent almost three years of his life going through a phase where he wondered what he was , his sexuality , and things of that nature. he spent three years in the body of his feminine form. a year going as purely female she / her. another year as a they / them. and the last as a he / them in the body of the feminine form. it taught him a lot and he knows for certain even as a feminine in body that's he's masculine. while he doesn't mind nor make a big deal out of being referred to as a she , he would still think and refer to HIMSELF as him / he / masculine.
Saint actually can and does get wet , he could lactate , and he does have a uterus. it's actually pretty accurate to classify them as hermaphrodites.
no , it's not likely they'd get pregnant as men nor impregnate as women. magic has it's rules , has it's laws. while it's very flexible what it means to be either, there's a bit of inflexibility in having to assume a more femine body to better , safely , and more naturally go about things of that nature. and it's often , women who assume the other role takes on a more masculine form for the duration of their lover's pregnancy. not because they have to , but to share in the burden. is it possible to not do anything of that and carry safely? yes , but it's going to require twice as much monitoring with twice as many complications with it. though it has been noted , it's gotten easier as the generations have gone by. likely a new evolutionary strength being formed that will make it easier for the next generation to do so.
it's actually very , very easy for Saint to get pregnant in his masculine form. blame Set for that , I suppose. the psychology of the trickster often works very differently than the rest. ( ie Loki , Set even , take your pick ).
thank you for coming to my knowledge you probably didn't need to or want to know , but now do.
