ok so- with me and my au specifically, i think it started with these drawings i made of fem! Danny based on fem! Morpheus:
Then I made a couple jokes about Orpheus clocking Daniel as an egg:
and it just kinda kept evolving from there? 😅
i don't really know how to explain the whole progression of events but we kept adding stuff to it like- Daniel really liking the Amazons and make up and feminine things, if you go back to that show and tell drawing i did, he has earrings on even as a kid, etc etc
idk at what point i established him as a shapeshifter (baby is shaper of forms), but in the end, we settled on genderfluid Danny who is a girl sometimes (and is still called Daniel, because she chose the name herself, thank you very much)
That post i made tho is because @aerisvales ALSO has a (different) transfem dani headcanon, and it's just SO amusing to me that like 3 people, all independently from each other, who all have Danny as their fav, came to the same "Daniel is trans" conclusion xD

I genuinely thought this was a danny phantom AU where he got adopted by Morpheus and became prince of the dreaming.... which led to her acceptance of herself as a woman - it be awesome
