The P-40K was a rugged aircraft, better suited to the harsh conditions of the CBI than many expected. Dust, heat, rough strips, and long supply lines made maintenance as important as flying skill. Ground crews kept these aircraft operational under constant strain, often working in open conditions with limited equipment.
