The face she makes is less wicked witch and more of a pouting one, not that she would ever admit such thing. “Coffee contains water. In fact, it is mostly water,” Freya states with an air of finality. Even Jeremy, prone to the belief he is always in the right, cannot possibly argue with that.

Annoyed as she is at his incessant meddling, the quip makes her lips twitch up in not yet a smile but something akin to one, a single ray of sun nearly breaking through the storm cloud that is her frown. “You are correct — I am a Mikaelson. Do you truly believe it is wise to mock my flair for dramatics?” Her tone is serious but Freya is not. She wishes not to hurt him; he is family. “If you must know, I'm perfectly hydrated. I’ve had plenty to drink today so you need not worry about it.”

the gloom of the attic matches the darkness outside, and from the heart of the room, freya looks like a witch queen ready to lay siege upon her enemies. a fierce look that has become rather synonymous for how hayley's come to see the witch. Were it anyone else who dared disturb her work, they would have ended up with their neck promptly snapped. Frustration has coiled up in the pit of her stomach, a viper ready to strike, and Freya is not exactly known for her patience. All Hayley gets, however, is a heavy sigh.

“I am not dying.” She takes a single yet dramatic pause. “Certainly not until after the spell is done.”

Their concern fills her with a peculiar mix of irritation ( she is perfectly aware of where her limits are and exactly how far beyond them she can push herself, thank you very much ) and fondness ( they care, care about her, care enough to stage an intervention regardless of how unnecessary one may be, and she is still at loss for what to do with that care ).

“I cannot believe my brother would yield this easily.” A wry smile tugs at her lips as she accepts the cup. The first sip she takes is greedy enough to burn her tongue. “Are you the decoy, by any chance, sent here to distract me while he plots an ambush? If so, it is quite the successful tactic.” Hayley is a sight for sore eyes — which, after hours spent flipping through the grimoires in the dimly lit room, are sore indeed — and Freya struggles to look away. She has always believed her resolve to be ironclad but Hayley tests it constantly.

She lowers her voice to a whisper, “I keep the tequila in the cabinet over there.”

This is certainly a bad day.

Her lack of prior contact with the Aes Sedai was hardly an accident. But now Moiraine is in her path, with considerable power of her own and a curiosity that feels like a threat, the man beside her a mercenary at best, her Warder at worst. Freya has heard the gleeman tales of the danger such pair can pose. She wants to back off, to leave, but that would reek of fear. Of weakness.

Instead, she takes a step closer. “At that Tower of yours, do you call it the One Power because you have convinced yourself there is but one way to practice it? To master it?” She levels the woman with a flat stare. “I have my ways, as you do yours. That is all there is to say on the subject.”
