Not to bring up old discourse that I didn't even get into because I block people I see saying dumb shit like this but like. I will never forgive anyone who was tearing into Caitlyn during season 2. Did she make good decisions? A lot of the time, no. But there was a fucking guy in this show who basically became a god and tried to TAKE AWAY EVERYONE'S FREE WILL and I never saw one goddamn person call him evil. You know who they did call evil?? The woman who was kidnapped, tortured, lost her mom in an incredibly violent way that led to her having to step up and become one of the most prominent leaders of a city that was freaking the fuck out because the way that her mom and several other important people died was because of a fucking nuke being launched at the building, who needed somewhere to focus her energy and, although it wasn't healthy, threw it all into revenge against the woman who caused all of this, was hurt when the only person she felt like she could rely on at the time stopped her from doing it, and (though it was her own fault) lost said person who had become so important to her in such a short amount of time who she literally kissed for the first time a few hours earlier. And on top of ALL that, then was being manipulated by a master manipulator into helping her enforce a dictatorship over the entire city. Which, mind you, she did question. Even after all that, Caitlyn didn't 100% bend to Ambessa's will. She questioned why there was so much unnecessary violence. She wanted to actually focus on capturing a genuinely dangerous person and her intent wasn't to beat up every slightly "suspicious" person along the way. But so many people were dogpiling on her acting like she was evil incarnate when literally the point of Arcane is that everyone is nuanced and complex. Even the guy who tried to take away everyone's free will wasn't totally evil. He had his good intentions about that even though it was insanely misguided. But y'all love to turn around on a woman when she does something you even slightly don't like and god FORBID she makes bad decisions. A male character can try to hivemind everyone on the planet and everybody just goes on about shipping him with some other guy and acting like nothing happened but a woman who, even if she goes down a bad path, has always and will always be at her core a well-intentioned person trying to do what she thinks is good, isn't a perfect person for one second and the fandom misogyny comes out of the woodwork like always. Caitlyn was absolutely overwhelmed by grief and stress but y'all would not give her a fucking break. I thought Arcane fans would be better during season 2 because this show explored a lot about how people act in bad situations but I am still fucked up about that.
