Ahh, the most under-rated aspect of Instagram. One of my clients was stuck at 11k followers, and I had told her change her username. She was denying until she had tried everything and none of that worked. And then, we got back to changing the username. As she had no other option, she did it, and now she has 18k followers! ✨It's never too late to change things! Don't stick with "People might be searching me by this username" OR "I'm now too big to change it". ✨ There's nothing like that. So, let's get back to the topic: how to optimize your username: 1⃣ Your username must be able to explain what do you do. If you're a lifestyle blogger, add the lifestyle keyword. If your niche is nutrition, add the nutrition keyword. In short, add a keyword that explains your niche. 2⃣ NEVER use the underscore(_). It is allowed, but it is too difficult to write it down. People who might be searching you, or while tagging you, will have to work hard to write it down! Make it as easy for them to tag or search you. P.S My hubby's username has the underscore and I know how frustrating it is whenever I want to tag him!😅 Put period (.) instead. 3⃣ Keep it short. 4⃣ You can add your name/brand name along with your field. For example, Rachel.lifestyle✨ 5⃣ IMPORTANT: Why am I telling you to add your field/niche name? Just your name is not gonna help people find you! People won't search for Rachel Desai to come to your lifestyle page! If someone is searching for lifestyle, they would be able to find you if your username or at least if your "Name" has the word lifestyle in it. 6⃣ While changing the username, think about what describes you amd how would people be able to find you. Use these words in your username. 7⃣ If you really think you can't change your username, but want to searched by your tribe, consider adding the keyword in your "Name" field.
