This chase led me to an addiction to numbers, hoping that if I got the scale low enough I'd be happy, only to realize numbers are infinite and never satisfy. ⁠ ⁠ Then I chased affection, hoping that the affirmation of others would make me feel confident. But I learned that the criticism of man is often louder than the applause of man, and both are fleeting. ⁠ ⁠ Then I chased success, desiring to surpass people's expectations. I soon realized that worldly success never satisfies. It wasn't meant to. ⁠ ⁠ All of these things I've chased have led me back to one place…Jesus.⠀⁠⠀⁠ ⠀⁠⠀⁠ He is worthy of the chase. What's different about chasing Jesus? This chase has an end goal. When we chase after him, we are sure to find him. Jeremiah 29:13 tells us this: "You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart." When we pursue knowing Jesus, we can know that we will reach that goal. After all, Jesus is the ultimate Prize of this life.⠀⁠⠀⁠ ⠀⁠⠀⁠ Whatever you're chasing today, whether it be perfection, affection, applause, beauty, acceptance, success—know that you weren't meant to find your hope in these things. ⁠ ⁠ You were made to chase Jesus. In him you'll find beauty, acceptance, grace, and perfect love. In him you'll find joy, friendship, purpose, and confidence. Any other earthly chase will leave you breathless and will get you nowhere. But to pursue Jesus will lead you straight to the cross where all hope and joy is found. ⠀⁠ ⁠⠀⁠ There is no greater pursuit in this life than the pursuit of God. The pang of pain beat in my chest, the fogginess of confusion clouded my mind, and tears welled up in my eyes.⁠ ⁠ In a season meant to be merry and bright, filled with good company and wonderful memories, many of us experience dread, sadness, and loneliness. It's hard to celebrate through the pain of reminders of the trauma of our childhood, the brokenness of our families, a current financial struggle, or the grief for those who are not at the table with us this year. ⁠ ⁠ We may feel the need to cover up, to force ourselves to stop feeling the dread, the sadness, the fear, the loneliness. But, dear sister, it's okay to feel this way.⁠ ⁠ Jesus Christ, the Son of the Almighty God, left his throne to walk among us and experienced such sufferings. Jesus came for the lame, the sick, the rejected, the orphans, the ones who come from broken homes, and the ones who just feel broken. Jesus came to heal us, mend us, welcome us—to save us.⁠ ⁠ Sister, this season may be filled with dread and joy. Sit in the tension. Come before the Lord with your burdens, sorrows, and pain. For you, I will always be home. And for me, you will always be my reason. After 4 nights, my kids are coming back!!!! I am picking them up after school, have to wait until then 😢 8hours have never felt so long. Can't wait! Hopefully I will be showered with hugs and stories that take too long to get to a point, if any. Cause I know what I will be doing to them - hugs and kisses all around. Birthday traditions: annual questions Yesterday I did my annual birthday questionnaire with the kids. In all honesty, this is the first year that it was successful. In the past, Amelia was still too young, and Alina just couldn't really be bothered to pay much attention. So yesterday I did Amelia's first, and it paid off - Alina was very eager to also do hers after seeing her sister :-) None of their answers surprised me - I really put a lot of effort into knowing my kids. Knowing their dreams and wishes and fears. I get them. What did surprise me was the number of times "Mamma" was the answer. As in, who is your hero? Mamma. Who is your favourite person? Mamma. Wow, made me feel all the feels. But also all the responsibility. For the past year, it was me, sharing all the good and the bad, and I am happy to see that even through the bad days, I succeeded in building and keeping our bond. Our lives are changing bit by bit. We are busy finalising the divorce. The kids have found their rhythm.
