“That’s a nice thought, but I’m not sure that’s how it is.” He paused for a moment before the next question. “We met in the army. We were in training together, then on tour. He was taken, I was told he was killed. And by some weird coincidence we ran into each other here. Now he’s gone again and I wasn’t there to stop it.”
“I’ve been in this business long enough to know that that is exactly how it is.” Harvey lied as smooth as butter. But someone had to give Jack the hope that Harvey never had when his wife was taken. He nodded and jotted down a few notes, then looked back up at him. “Mhm. Did you immediately give up when you heard he’d been killed?”
