Timothy blinks, and takes a second, clearly weighing something in his mind. His expression goes through a veritable roller-coaster â first contemplation, then a cheeky almost-smirk, then a visible grabbing of reins and halting whatever idea had just crossed his mind.
âAs funny as it would be if I were some arrogant cup-lecturing mansplainer, Iâm actually the Curator, hello,â he chuckles, rocking back on his hooves. âI had half a mind to offer to show you to the office, sit down behind my desk, and only then admit Iâm who youâre looking for, but that might have been a bit mean?â
Probably. Funny, yes, but a bit too on the mockery side. The poor man already looks vaguely horrified at the notion of being shown more art, Timothy doesnât want to drive him away.
âTimothy. Delighted to meet you.â The smile that accompanies the offered hand for a shake is either downright flirtatious or just superbly pleased. âIf you have business, you should have called ahead, I could have offered lunch! Never mind, I suppose, weâll save that for next time â here, come to my office, and we can chat to your heartâs content.â Then, he proceeds to hold out his arm, Victorian gentleman style.
âTo be honest,â Vic begins, still halfway debating which persona to use on the newly identified curator; the smarmy Council member or the friendly patron. He think friendly patron would get him further with the Faun but Vic didnât quite feel like schmoozing anyone at the moment. âIâm glad you didnât. I think youâve already had far too much fun at my expense.â
Itâs not that he minds being on the receiving end of joke, itâs just that heâs already so far out of his comfort zone and heâd really rather just get this whole thing over with. Nobody ever claimed doing Council work would be fun, but did it really have to be so boring?
âAh yes, Timothy. Youâre highly regarded when it comes to matters involving art. Great to finally meet you.â Itâs a lie, but okay a little schmoozing wouldnât kill him. âVicnaeâ he responds in kind, grabbing the offered hand firmly and matching Timâs smile with a smirk of his own. âFriends and colleagues are permitted to call me Vic, however.â He pretends not to be offended by the idea of having to make an appointment as he takes the offered arm. Human contact isnât his favorite thing in the world, especially personal displays of it, but thereâs something charming about Vic that makes him almost impossible to refuse. âI appreciate the gesture but this shouldnât take too much of either of our time. I do have several other engagements to attend to this afternoon.â
