Sign-ups for the Viclock Winter Gift Exchange are now open!
Writers and artists, (traditional, digital, editors/gifmakers, etc.) are allĀ welcome.Ā
It has been three months since the end of the last Viclock gift exchange and therefore I have decided to make it a twice-yearly thing with three months in between the posting day and opening of each exchange. The Viclock community has grown quite remarkably since the summer and with it, has brought many new headcanons, fics and art.Ā
However, the Viclock community on tumblr is still quite small and Iāve found that Iām not really familiar with the new authors and artists who ship it. After all, you can only spend so long searching through the Sherlock Holmes/Victor Trevor tag on AO3 or Deviantart before you come to the end. I have decided to attempt to change all of that by running this exchange which should allow us all to not only create new works but also let us make new friends with other Viclock shippers. Well⦠thatās the plan anyway.Ā
This is the second time that I've run this exchange and despite it being a success, I intend for it to run a lot more smoothly this time. I realise that sign-ups for the last exchange were slightly confusing and so I'm going to give you the option of signing-up by email or by filling out a sign-up sheet. I will also be more thorough with pinch-hitting to make sure that everyoneĀ receivesĀ a giftĀ when they should do. The last exchange was definitely a steep learning curve.Ā There were sixteen participants last time and it will be great to see how many we can get this time.Ā
Now for the important part:
Writers: At least 1,000 words, please. Although, the 1,000 words may be the total of a collection or series.(Eg. five 221b ficlets.)Ā
Artists: Use your discretion, but it should be something you spend more than ten minutes on. Nobody wants to spend weeks perfecting a piece of work only to receive a hastily drawn piece of art in return. Ā
What will I receive in return?Ā
In return you will receive a gift that has been made to your preferences which were stated in the sign-up email. However, you wonāt know if your Gift Giver is an artist or author and what they are creating for you until presentation day.Ā
How long do I have to create?
You will receive your assignment on 16th November 2014 and the posting days are 9th-11th January 2015 so you have approximately two months which should give you enough time to do something even with school work and whatnot.Ā
Iām glad weāve got this far. ClickĀ hereĀ for the application form or here for the sign-up questions to join via email.Ā You have until 14th November to do so.Ā
You said Winter Exchange. Do I have to make it Christmassy?
No, not at all. If you want to add elements of winter, Christmas, Chanukkah etc to your work then feel free but you don't have to. Although an ice skating Sherlock and Victor would be pretty cute, I was only using 'Winter' to differentiate between the two exchanges.Ā
I have questions. Where can I ask them?Ā
If you sign up, please follow this blog for updates on the exchange. I would like to say thank you to everyone in advance who signs up. As I said earlier, I think this will be a great chance to increase the number of fanworks in our fandom and give us all a chance to meet other Viclock shippers.Ā
