She might have even thought by logic that Vergil was dead by this point. That this was futile. And this was why she told Dante to hide and change his name instead of looking for Vergil.

-Engagement and marriage rings are still a thing in Fortuna, but couples also make or commission daggers for one another. The person proposing offers the engagement dagger first, and then, if the proposal is accepted, the other person gets their own dagger as well.

I was going to go with swords for this, but the DMC4 novel says that swords are a Big Deal in Fortuna, especially to the Order, so I figured daggers might be a good compromise. Still, I could see an engagement gift of a well made sword being a thing for Order knights, tho Idk how common it would be, given that the sword an Order knight uses is as much a badge of office as it is a weapon.

-Matching or complimentary necklaces are also seen as a "cute couples"/"courting" thing, and sometimes the wedding and engagement rings are worn on the necklace's chains, if the couple are married. The latter is usually more common with Order knights, since rings tend to catch on things, and its hard to wear rings on gauntleted fingers. Even then, the necklaces are usually worn under the Order uniform or armor, or carried in a pouch at their side, to avoid the necklace catching on something in battle or flying up and hitting the wearer in the face, and also to try and keep the necklace and/or ring(s) safe from damage or being lost in battle.

-I could also see engagement and marriage daggers/swords and rings/necklaces being handed down to family members, if they're not buried with their original or previous bearers. I guess it would depend on how much money a family has to spend on that kind of thing, and how emotionally attached the late owners of each item was. I think silver inlay on the daggers/swords would be common (since I'm going with the sort of headcanon that silver works well against demons), along with personal touches for each person, as well as silver and gold necklaces, to mimic Sparda's halves of the amulet. (Assuming Fortuna has records of Sparda's Perfect Amulet ever being in the halves we see Dante and Vergil wear- otherwise, silver is probably more common.)

-Regardless, because this is Fortuna, I could see most people making it a point to carry at least a dagger on their person at all times. Unless the current vicar or the Order discouraged it (which I headcanon Sanctus did, given how we see the citizens of Fortuna react to the demon attacks in DMC4), I tend to headcanon that it's like pissing off the village people in Skyrim- everybody goes armed, and if you start shit, everyone in town (save maybe the children) is going to attack you, even if the only weapons they have are their fists. Even if you're a demon. To a certain extent, anyway. Depends on how close the nearest knight of the Order is, I guess. (Maybe this is just me, but I keep thinking that the people of Fortuna would just see demons as pests to be dealt with, not so much a great horror. Just because they've lived with demon attacks for so long, you gotta figure people would just be used to it by now.)
