I like to think that my hyperfixations work like the moon cycle. The new moon is the new fixation. As the moon waxes, the fixation grows more intense and I engage with it more. At the full moon, I'm very engaged and making big stories with my own characters in them. The waning phases are usually what happens when I discover another interest, because I've found I can rarely be at Full Moon intensity for two fandoms at the same time.
Light's music preferences: it depends, it depends on a lot of factors. What I'm in the mood for, what I'm doing, what mood I'm in, among other things. But I mean pretty heavily towards video game music.
Engineer's music preferences: I lean more towards. Intense music. I guess. I'm still figuring it out.

I can barely comprehend how insane she's making me and her dynamic of loving Noel and Arthur and John but as a Friend™ and how she would absolutely hold Noel's hand the entire time they're infiltrating a cult to keep him grounded or if the King is brought up
Avera Roosevelt is making me Very Sane can you tell
Okay!!!! So her name is Avera Roosevelt, she's my OC for Malevolent and she's a Detective!! She has dark brown hair, light blue eye (right singular), ear (right, singular), two moles under her right eye, and her body type changed a bit. She used to be more like, pear shaped but I'm a traditional artist which means consistency is a myth so I was drawing her and Parker in dresses, realized her frame was way larger than normal, then decided "fuck it we ball, that tracks" so she's plus size now!

She works alongside Noel like, 3-4 years pre Malevolent! They met because they were investigating the same Rat Bastard, there was a whole situation where they were super suspicious of one another but they talked it out and compared notes. They get the Bastard jailed and hooray!
They get a celebratory coffee and talk for 4 hours straight about anything and everything (careers, cases, the best parts of the job, the worst parts, love interests), Avera opens up about why half her face is scarred and paralyzed since that's the first thing most people notice about her, regardless of the eye patch. Besides, it helps with intimidation. Noel of course, is chill as fuck and maybe still a little high off the fact that they Finally Fucking Jailed that Bastard.
They shake hands before they leave.
So they go their separate ways, rightfully assuming they won't run into each other again and then they do, SEVERAL times over in cases and coffee until Noel and Avera say "fuck it, joint Detective Agency it is". I like to think Avera was just living out of her office, but now she's rooming with Noel in his apartment. They get a case about a cult and Vera over her finally mentions that she's infiltrated and busted 2 of them so she's plenty aware of the supernatural. Noel opens up about his time in the Dreamlands over a mild drink. They were already friends before but now they're CLOSER friends and she's holding his hand to keep him grounded.
Physical touch is something Avera does a lot. She doesn't even realize it. Setting her hand on Charlie's shoulder while reading a case file, yanking him out of the way if she needs to, tackling suspects, beating said suspects (interrogation style), holding Noel's hand in any general setting (it's comfy). It's her love language, she just doesn't realize it.
Speaking of love, she does love Charlie but not romantically. Friendly, platonically. Cares about him so fucking much that one of the few things to make her distressed was when he gets real fucked up after a case. They get drinks and learn that Noel likes men, Avera likes women. Several weeks pass. Avera asks if they should get married on the 3 year anniversary of when they met and Noel kind of stares for a while.
Explains that nothing's going to change between them, they're still going to be friends. They care about each other and half the time when they're in public, people seem to just assume they're a couple. That's right, lavender marriage!!!! Because she loves him and wants him to be able to pick up cute guys without being suspicious!!
She finds Thelma a year after that (the kid broke into the house) and then she becomes part of their Functional Family Unit! Thelma comes with them on tamer cases and learns through being present.
But onto how Avera interacts with Arthur (a year after obtaining Thelma and two years after marrying Charlie)! She hadn't been called in about the Butcher but he'd been a source of frustration for both of them. He keeps escaping and killing the officers and no amount of working the tension out of Charlie's shoulders ever seems to help. Noel rings her up before going on that cafe date with Arthur and yeah sure, she doesn't mind dropping by to meet this crazy bastard who seems to have gained Noel's interest.
She has her fun learning about Arthur Lester. Definitely Strange™ that he keeps pausing or nearly running into things. Why do his eyes look like that, anyway? So post coffee date, they immediately talk about how Arthur's neat, Avera thinks he wouldn't be too bad to have around (already endeared by how weird this man is), and things get extra fun once she learns about John. Just like with Noel, she finds herself loving him. Holding his or John's hands (with permission first, then whenever either of them want later), she talks to them about scars and cults and wild cases and of course she's charmed by them, Charlie's vexed and obviously in love with them.
Thelma meets Arthur and THAT'S a whole ordeal but we can get into that some other time.
So Jarthur hang around Noel and Avera's apartment for a bit. Have a nice dinner, talk about how yes they're married, but it Really Isn't Like That and Arthur understands after a while. So Noel and Arthur start making out, they canoodle, Avera somehow gets involved and Arthur's legs are noodles by the end of the night. Fun!
If we diverge from Canon a little, then Part 40 doesn't happen for a while, and these four idiots get to be domestic! Take turns making dinner, have some easy intimacy on the couch (hugging, cuddling, movie time). She isn't usually one for pet names, but occasionally calls any one of them "darling". Arthur gets food in his body so he stops resembling a skeleton (a point that Charlie was especially glad about). She occasionally bullies him into taking care of himself better (same goes for Noel, but unless he's working a rough case then he generally sleeps well).
Oh yeah since they make me sick, they're all supportive and sickeningly loving whenever anyone has a nightmare. Thinking about the Pits again? Honey tea with the softest blanket we can find, no Arthur I don't care if you fall asleep on my boobs they're there, at head height for you, for a reason.
Thinking about the Dreamlands and the King? John's projecting himself to give you a hug, Arthur's reading poetry and Noel gets to be nice and settled in between them.
Thinking about that bastard cop that shot you with intent to kill? No worries, there are good men in this world and they're going to make you blush like a fire truck with appreciation.
Later on, in Threshold (following canon), Avera starts being haunted by Lillith and That ends up being a whole thing where she somehow finds herself loving her. I don't know how she gets there, but quite frankly I think Thelma needs a very stable family after Noel gets sent to Spain (Avera would beta Kayne's face in if given the chance).
For extra pain: Vera still wears the wedding band. She wonders if Charlie still has his, wherever the fuck he is. Oh baby if she learns that he's alive and well she is going to call on MANY favors from the Eldritch beings she's in touch with. I don't CARE if it's out of your jurisdiction, you're going to TAKE me to Threshold whether you fucking like it or not. She's not above threatening gods. These hands are rated E for Everyone.
Modern AU Avera is just a cool lesbian aunt married to a cool gay uncle they just forgot to divorce and it worked out really well honestly.

I feel down in my bones that Noel is gay but also I have an active imagination and also they let me on AO3 again (glorious Joelthur fanfiction) and I think to myself "damn wouldn't it be sick and rad if Avera were included in this" and then I do some inner wrestling because she could totally dom someone or be a service top but rrrrgh I don't know how to write that properly
She's not into them romantically though. She loves Arthur but in a friendly way and also in the "we went through the same traumatizing thing and we comfort each other sometimes" kind of way. That's the same way she loves Noel. Maybe they fooled around once or twice (adrenaline/relief after Big Danger) but that's about it. She would totally get into a Lavender Marriage with him so that he can get as quirky as he wants with Arthur and John. She's just glad they're safe at that point.
I'd probably call her Panromantic/Demiromantic. Or maybe I'll look into different Aro-Ace alignments if something fits her better.
