This whole Tyler Catastrophe situation is fucked but we need to make sure we concentrate on the important things so he doesn’t just become another lost opportunity for someone to be better
Okay to judge
- parasocial relationship
- denying abuse allegations which Wilbur admitted to
- the way he is trying to spread lies about the whole Stuart Semple thing
- claiming to be 2-Spirit without any acknowledged ties to indigenous heritage
- his lack of accountability and propensity to lie about things
- attempting to distance himself from his whiteness by milking being supposedly Portuguese (meanwhile claiming to be related to famous white british people lol)
Dependant
- his art and being OVERLY rude about it. I personally don’t like it and don’t understand the pricing but if all of that is what he wants to do, then sure, it’ll only really affect him in the end
- any CONSTRUCTIVE criticism seems pretty valid as to how he’s deciding to run his business or sell his necklaces (ie wearing them in “thirst traps” to sell them) but don’t conflate that with just insulting him looks wise
Disrespectful:
- anything about his gender identity
- the Jolene jokes were funny for a bit, as he himself was the person peddling the idea, but maybe try not to make that so big as it does tiptoe the boundaries of sometimes being a tiny bit weird considering he is trans and is almost adjacent to dead naming
- dogging on his looks and making rude caricatures of him is unnecessary
- the whole Antarctica thing is silly but insulting him about it seems kinda boring in comparison to the bigger issues
