Here's my submission for the @sonadowexch this year! It took me foreverrrr so that's why I haven't posted in awhile. Here's the link to the submission on ao3 along with the other submissions from the other very talented artists and writers!
1️⃣ While Arte was inspired by my husband, Arte is actually a reflection of myself; we are both spoiled, clumsy, hopeless romantics, and visually impaired (in the same eye!) ❄️
2️⃣ Ivy's earliest concept was an alter ego, representing someone I wish I was: strong, confident, and just an overall badass. I learned about alter egos from Disney's Read It and Weep (a movie I almost forgot about) 🕸️
3️⃣ Story ideas spawn from many things, including songs, shows, and quotes from my husband ❤️
4️⃣ I like stylizing text with things like Z̸͚̀a̵̪͠l̶͔̓ĝ̸͔ǫ̴̓ ̸̫͛ṱ̶͊é̷̟x̷͔̾t̸͚̅ or colors as I believe reading should be a visual experience. I really should push it further, tho!
5️⃣ Some names I've used for side characters, like Anneliese, Erika, Dominick, and Julian, are from Barbie's Princess & the Pauper (PEAK cinema btw) 💖
6️⃣ I often describe Arte's hair as "so blond it was almost white." I tried to look up where I heard this phrase, and after some digging, I believe it came from Cassandra Clare's The Mortal Instruments series, which I read aaaages ago.
7️⃣ The jewel on Ivy's chest uses the same shape as the one on Jasmine's headband as she's my favorite Disney princess 👑
8️⃣ I almost made Ivy's last name Valentine since I love romance and the letter V, but it turns out Ivy Valentine is already a prominent character in Soulcalibur, a game I am not familiar with 😅
9️⃣ Arte and Ivy have rings because they do get engaged at some point! I just like writing about The Chase™
