Conversations in The Dark
Behind my smile lies a hidden truth. Iām not happy. Mentally, I feel drained and my sense of hope has withered. For someone who āhas it all,ā I feel empty inside. Just as much as itās hard to talk about it, I canāt come to fully explain it either. My own internal struggles have made me feel small and lost. Iāve developed a hatred for myself and this life that I no longer really want anymore. I love all of the people who have made it worth the while, but Iām no longer content with it. You canāt lose anything more when you feel like youāve already lost a lot of everything. Thereās never a going back to how great everything once was at one point in time. The disappointment and reality of this life has become too overwhelming to bear on most days. Iāve lost a lot of hope in the world and Iāve also lost a lot of hope in myself. The loss eats away at my optimism and leaves me with little motivation to get anything done. Some days, Iām mad. Iām mad that there wasnāt more I could do. Iām mad that all my effort wasnāt enough. Iām mad I spent a lot of time trying to please people who never really gave a damn. Iām mad that Iāve had to carry around these burdens for so long. The only place I really feel safe is in my own solitude in the darkness of my room because Iām not having to face the scary reminders that are reality. Thereās days when it feels like itās all been for nothing. Iāll always come back to this emptiness. A lot of days I just want to scream and cry because I donāt know how I ended up here. Feeling alone and like nobody could ever understand this loneliness. The disappointment becomes overwhelmingly too much at times. If death were to take me away now, I just want those that I love to know that Iām at peace leaving everything behind. Nothing made me happy for some time now. I kept taking the hits as they came, and I finally hit my breaking point. The shockwaves of grief come over me more days than not and my heart sinks, struggling to make it back to the surface during the week nights. The long threads of hope continue to get shorter and shorter. Iām fighting, fighting, fighting to win this never-ending war I have going on in my life.
