Monsters must be people too, so oh geez!!

Okay now that we have established this post has spoilers for episode 8 of the amazing digital circus, who the figgity fuck is GRANT?? I have a theory on him, but I dont know if it makes sense.

So y'know the “other A.I” that was a replacement for Caine? I think that guy is Grant. I think that when Caine saw how great Grant was doing Caine got pissed and did something like lock him away in a file. Specifically the file named “???” with an abstracted looking icon (can be found at 29:03 in episode 8). Grant is obviously pissed and plotting his revenge against Caine. I'm assuming this because Grant was a replacement for Caine, and I'm sure the programmers want Grant to have a similar “personality” to Caine. To be Caine but better. Here's where it gets — for lack of a better word — wacky.

I think Grant and Bubble have been working together the whole show. Bubble has been constantly doing things to confuse or irritate Caine, putting him in a sense of sensitivity or distraction so Grant can get busy acting on his plan. Why would Bubble even help Grant though? What's so special about Grant? Grant is powerful. Grant is better. Bubble wants power, and Caine just isn't giving that to him. So, this leads me to the conclusion that Grant will take over the circus and turn it into something new with the help of Bubble. Of course I left a lot of stuff out, but I think you get it.

Now here's what makes me doubt my theory.

I think the user taunting Kinger, “$” is a mix of Bubble and Grant. However, when the mysterious user says “I must hand it to you Grant, your mind was always resourceful.” Why would Bubble say that? Out of all people? It makes Grant sound human. It makes Grant almost sound like a programmer. While it's a big possibility that This is Scratch talking to Grant and helping Grant take over the circus, I like the idea that Bubble needs more chaos than Caine is giving him.
