Why did the sun have to make light?
Minako grimaced and turned away from the window, burying her face into her lover's broad back.
"You slept through your alarm," came the melodic, deep voice of her bedmate. From his tone, he seemed to be equally tired.
"I don't wanna get up," Minako mumbled, "it's too early."
Minako felt the rumble of his chuckle as he turned over and wrapped his arms around her.
"Really, we should get up."
"Not until the queen gets up," Minako said.
"There's delegates from America coming at noon. You know how they can be."
Minako harrumphed and pulled the covers up further, breathing in deeply of Kunzite's scent.
Isn't this what they fought for? The chance to live without the fear that everything good would disappear with the next day? That people could have a second chance at life and love?
When the jewels that had once contained the shitennou had been dropped into the Galaxy Cauldron and disappeared, she had thought them lost forever... only to find her beloved Karim, Kunzite given new life, when she very least expected it.
How strange life could be.
"What time is it?" Minako said dreamily. Surely, it would only be a few minutes past her expected wake up time.
There was a pause, too long for comfort. Opening her eyes, Minako looked up at her dear husband.
A look of shock was painted on his face. Following his gaze to the nightstand, Minako felt her stomach drop when she read the fluorescent letters on her digital clock.
The next twelve minutes was nothing but a flurry of sheets and clothes and prayers that no-one would smell their morning breath.
Who scheduled a meeting this early, Minako thought to herself as she dashed out the door, still brushing her teeth.
We need a louder alarm, Kunzite thought as he struggled to snap his cape on while following her.
