i think the moon sign in astrology is fascinating, because we often say a scorpio moon experiences emotions a certain way, instead of the reality, which is a scorpio moon learned to cope with their emotions in a scorpion way. the moon is our basis to life ( our formative memories and foundation)
we are all emotional. i donât think one human is more emotional than the next. but we all have lived unique lives. the 12 signs can guide us to understanding what formed a personâs emotional responses ( their moon sign) more than using someoneâs moon sign to gauge how emotional they are. a scorpio moon can feel as deeply as an aquarius moon, but the key difference is how they filter those feelings. this is essential. everyone can detach from emotions, everyone can suppress their emotions, everyone can explode. we all have emotional potential. but did a scorpio moon grow up being able to explode? was an aries moon comfortable when life was still? these are the important questions we must ask when dealing with astrology. what if i told you that the leo moon isnât creative because they simply were born that wayâŚwhat if they are creative because the only way they learned they could express themselves freely was through art, music, or writing? what if i told you that the taurus moon isnât grounded, theyâve learned that containing their emotions was safest. our moon sign shows the outline of our development, that is why one leo moon can have confidence because their parents instilled it in them and another can be incredibly insecure because they were constantly criticized. i am sharing my insights, from a psychological lens on the elemental moon signs.
for me air sign moons needed to COMMUNICATE & socialize to survive. if they didnât speak-up, their needs and desires were unmet. you can see air moons around parents who were busy bodies, a bit of neglect, the child being alone a lot. air signs are very innovative, so the child had to solve a lot on their own. for air moons, feelings arenât safe unless there is a solution. furthermore, they may have felt alone in their formative years so friends became their emotional comfort. depending on the generation, some air moons relied heavily on technology ( tablets, phones, tvâs raised them). air deals with a lot of movement, so air moon children could be born to parents who moved a lot, or dealt with constant change. also when i think of air moonâs i think of â closed mouths donât get fedâ⌠the child learned early on they had to be vocal. there is also a theme of dealing with emotionally erratic or chaotic parents, so the air moon child said fuck it, I HAVE TO LEARN, i have to understand, logic became the hope of breaking out of the chaos, strategy became freedom. even in the cases where parents were good to their air moon child, the air moon may have felt best to keep the lines of communication open with their parents, this was safety to them, communication, being around their parent when doing things, and learning through their parents.
i would also like to add that i think air moons may have saw emotion displayed to them in their formative environments as chaos. intellectualizing emotions was probably their way to make sense of why people acted the way they did. i also feel like a lot of only children, children who have a wide age gap with their sibling, children with half siblings, and children with a lot of siblings are air moonâs,â socializing is necessary for these circumstances, or an openness to it. i also do believe some air moons have very scholarly and educated parents, learning and education may have become the priority and has molded these children into adults who feel secure in logical thought and not in the emotional realm.
fire moons seem to come from children who felt unseen. fire is a bursting flame that you cannot ignore. a lot of fire moons could also come from hard working parents, the child was always bored so they became creative and constantly looked for excitement on their own. if you notice fire moons are quite needy, so maybe they felt they needed to grasp their parents attention. a lot of fire moons have siblings, so they become the firecracker to get attention. eventually fire moons become very independent, so they were probably forced to deal with a great deal on their own as a child. but i do think many fire moons felt suffocated as children which is why as adults they crave so much freedom and donât want to feel cornered. i would say itâs due to probably heavy expectations as a child, also coming from families where they had to compete for attention. even fire moon children may have a lot of tantrums just to get mommy time. i also can say fire moons can come from very uniform families, like they just want to stand out and be unique, they donât want to follow their siblings, they want to be different. maybe being the same didnât feel special, so a fire moon found a way to stand out. there may have been an expectation for the fire moon to be good without reward, but somehow when they were rebellious, bad, or misbehaved they got a lot of attention, so they learn acting out their emotions does give them the attention they want. in the lighter sense with good parents, fire moonâs can have a deep attachment to their parents and just want to be the center of the parents world.
in addition, i do think some fire moons grew up in very calm, peaceful, or lacking expression/excitement environments. they could think its peaceful but boring, so they seek out excitement because silence doesnât feel comfortable to them. i can imagine a lot of fire moon children grew up around parents with big personalities and they mimic their parents. a lot of fire moons can be born from popular/famous parents, parents that are alternative, parents that are entertainers, hippies/hipsters, spiritual parents. it instills that fire, that creativity, that lust for life into them early. on the negative side some peoples parents were very volatile and they grew footing by growing a back bone and having a fiery personality.
for earth moons, iâm ngl i automatically think a lot of earth moons as coming from parents that were either very routine or religious. religious earth moons had to adapt to the expectations and rules based in religion, so they never felt free to begin, their life had a lot of structure and they had to comply. also some earth moons grew up with very routine parents, even as a child they could almost predict what would occur next, so routine and structure became their safe zone. you can also see earth moons who had parents who were all over the place and chaotic, youâll start to notice the earth moon child create structure for themselves just to deal with their parents chaos. i see a lot of older siblings as earth moons or youngest. the oldest almost has to create the structure in the household and has to be responsible for their sibling. the youngest damn near is neglected and has to parent themselves. you will see a lot of kids to dr*g addict parents or parents in really volatile relationships be earth moon. they had to parent their parent or be their parent therapist. a lot of earth moons really had to grow up fast, fun and pleasure was something they constantly felt was delayed. thatâs why sometimes an earth moon can feel cold, rigid. they were always having to be responsible or hold things together, theyâre internally so overwhelmed. in a lighter sense, a lot of earth moonâs were children that did much better when life was organized and structured and thatâs when they acted better too.
earth moons can have introverted parents, they have the same reserved/cautious approach that their parents do. you also do see earth moons from parents who struggled financially as well⌠thatâs why you see earth moons who care so much about money, having it, keeping it, getting more of it as an adult. you can see an earth moon to a strict parent, the earth moon learns rules before anything in life⌠â donât touch this..â âŚâ donât do this.â a lot of authoritarian parents/controlling parents birth earth moons. the child feels very controlled, earth can represent physical limitations so they may have felt limited in many ways. you can see a lot of earth moons to young momâs, or aged parents ( 35+), i can also see earth moons being raised by a grandmother or elder. some earth moons fear their parents, itâs why they can contain their emotions so well, theyâve trained themselves. other earth moons had a lot of respect for their parents. their parents were incredibly dedicated, hardworking, overachievers and constantly improved their lives. when an earth moons grows up like that, they learn discipline and effort is incredibly important.
water moonâs⌠ugh.. this is personal because iâm a water moon. a lot of us were very neglected. ngl we can be so internal because the external world was very unsteady and uncomfortable for us. we almost parent ourselves from a young age. our internal world is our hideaway..especially our imagination as a kid. oftentimes we lived in volatile environments, overbearing parents, too much alone time. a lot of our parents couldâve also been super logical, no time for our emotions, so we found our only way of feeling is to cry in our pillow at night and be strong during the day. also in a way us being perceived as emotional was the only way we would be seen. we were practically overlooked until we had tantrums, cried a lot, complained, or just became the difficult child. in other cases a lot of water moon children were under a lot of pressure and overwhelm and emotions leaked so much more. think the child who doesnât get a break, the child who has to pick up and go to school next day after barely getting rest because their parents were fighting. sometimes what is seen as sensitivity in water moons is a person that has been broken again and again. a lot of water moons though may have dealt with some kind of abuse, they become incredibly protective of siblings, or at least some dangerous moments where theyâve learned to protect what is important. in a lighter sense a lot of water moons, like fire moons can be very attached to their mothers and parents and simply value the connection a lot.
water moons can sometimes have very spiritual parents, sometimes their parents experience spiritual psychosis, in a religious cult, or has a parent who is very psychic. itâs almost like the child inherits their parents psychic powers. a lot of water moons parents are super private people, a lot of secrets, so it makes the water moon super curious about people from the start. sometimes parents who feel lonely in the world birth a water moon, the child feels emotionally responsible for their parent very young. a lot of volatile relationships birth a water moon, the water moon has to constantly soothe themselves from the chaos of their parents so you see them get really quiet and internal. water moons can also be born from parents with mental disorders, this is how they become what is considered emotionally intelligent by learning how to navigate difficult situations. water moons can be taught how important reading people and responding appropriately is to their survival thus they can grow to be the kind of adults who is skilled in reading rooms, feeling energy, and knowing how to deal with difficult people.
in these signs, you donât see a lack of emotion, you see unique experiences to which their emotional body had to process emotion and feeling. it is the same way that when youâre hungry, you are more irritable and when you eat and are full, you are more relaxed. it is the same way that you smile more and feel good when you have good friendships , and can find yourself depressed and isolated when you have no friends. the moon is the container for our formative years, but our habits do not have to bind us. we can learn how to use our moon sign to nurture ourselves as well. what is the ideal parent for your element? you can use that basis to nurture yourself. water needs a peaceful parent, where they donât have to constantly scan the room. so it is better for a water moon to prioritize calm and peaceful environments with people they donât have to constantly read into. a fire moon may have yearned for a parent that cheered them on, supported them deeply, so it is important as an adult that a fire moon has a supportive circle, people who speak life into you, individuals that inspire you. you cannot change your formative years, but you can build a foundation of safety + peace for yourself from what didnât serve you, and what did đ¤
