...Also please try to stop invalidating your physical pain. You're right, the norm is no chronic pain. It's true that you've been through worse pain. But the thing about chronic pain is though it can flare up and get unbearable sometimes, it's still constant. Chronic pain is one of the worst pains because not only can you do little to relieve it, but it can also spike randomly, make everyday miserable, ruin an otherwise good mood, restrict your life, and more. You don't know when/if it'll ever end and you reminisce on the days it wasn't there instead of anticipating the moment you know it'll be over like other pains. It's a terrible thing to experience. You have to remember that you are allowed to not be okay and voice that you're not okay. It doesn't make you weak to have a life changing bodily pain that you cannot, no matter how hard you try, power through 24/7. There will be days you feel like you're drowning and it'll be so much easier to watch yourself sink than to focus and swim up. But in my opinion, going through so much pain and deciding to fight and not give up -- even if it's not every day -- is the strongest and bravest thing you can do. Your body is failing you and you're pulling yourself up as often as you can with a big, fat middle finger to the pain you experience. That is so metal. And the fact you went and asked for help and got a mobility aid when reaching out and making things easier on yourself can be one of the hardest things a person can do? You are so strong. And you're making it through your senior year while going through this? You are doing amazing! I'm really proud of you and I hope your knee/hip gets better.
