"thank  the  gods"  the  words  escaped  her  lips  without  a  second  thought,  the  relief  of  knowing  her  former  friend  was  not  as  badly  hurt  as  she  had  supposed  pushed  her  instincts  to  thank  gods  she  did  not  believe  in,  and  perhaps  mentally  thank  the  one  she  did  somewhat  believe  in.  gysella's  knowledge  of  her  son  was  due  to  their  shared  time  at  pyke,  had  it  not  been  for  that  and  had  she  known  everything  would  go  down  as  it  did,  she  wouldn't  have  introduced  aeron  so  easily.  she  was  afraid  of  what  may  happen  to  herself,  but  most  importantly,  what  would  happen  to  him  if  the  word  were  to  get  out.  it  is  the  other's  dignity  in  keeping  her  secret  that  makes  her  still  fond  of  her.  "he's  fearless,  sure  is.  obsessed  with  his  wooden  swords  and  all  the  stories  of  the  seas  and  battles  that  he's  heard"  a  small  smile  forms  at  the  thought  of  her  growing  son.  the  blonde  bites  the  inside  of  her  cheek,  her  words  almost  a  whisper  "he  used  to  ask  about  you  and  where  you  went,  i  suppose  i  wasn't  the  only  one  affected  by  your  departure"

"perhaps,  that's  our  destined  path.  chosen  for  us  by  the  gods  themselves"  he  spouts,  a  loud  laughter  escaping  his  lips  after.  the  fellow  lord  was  one  of  his  closest  friends  and  allies,  another  of  his  lads  who  enjoyed  drinking,  riding,  and  singing  with  him.  hendrick  took  another  long  sip  of  his  tankard,  enjoying  the  taste  of  ale  "if  we  do  plan  to  go  on  a  ride,  i  do  not  believe  we  should  continue  to  drink  this"  he  raises  his  brow,  setting  down  the  almost  empty  tankard  on  the  wooden  table.

allaria  cussed  under  her  breath,  of  course,  the  person  she  turned  to  face  was  the  last  person  she  ever  wanted  to  see.  she  managed  to  control  herself  from  speaking  without  thinking  twice,  knowing  that  her  tongue  would  be  her  undoing  if  she  were  to  make  a  mistake  now.  "it  was  just  a  jest,  my  lord"  she  spoke,  eyes  looking  away  for  a  second  before  setting  on  the  other  back  again  "i  have  a  talent  for  noticing  people's  presence  even  if  they  walk  ever  so  subtly,  so  i  doubt  i  wouldn't  have  noticed"

hendrick  furrowed  his  brows  in  confusion,  the  lord  of  godsgrace  still  not  used  to  people  not  fawning  over  him  or  enjoying  his  friendly  nature.  he  takes  a  sip  of  his  tankard,  looking  at  the  other  over  his  shoulder  "you're  not  bothering  me  at  all,  i  enjoy  the  company  of  a  fellow  horse  enthusiast"  he  puts  down  the  tankard,  hand  patting  the  horse  before  him  "marvelous  creatures,  are  they  not?  what's  the  name  of  yours?"

slender  digits  trailed  through  the  crystal  waters  ,  small  ripples  gliding  over  the  otherwise  still  pool .  drawn  towards  the  nape  of  slender  neck  ,  droplets  caress  ivory  spine  the  flesh  prickling  along  its  cooling  path .   lilac  orbs  close  to  the  glimpses  of  light  peaking  through  the  dense  canopy  of  crimson  foliage  ;  fatigue  creeps  upon  her  with  unappreciated  swiftness  these  days  ,  though  sharpened  senses  have  not  abandoned  her  completely .   ❛    were  you  not  schooled  upon  the  rudeness  of  sneakery  ?     ❜   sculptured  brow  arches  ,  one  eye  peaking  at  the  intruder  .    ❛    you  are  fortunate  i  am  born  to  the  branch   without  white  cloaks  .  but  now  you  are  here  ,  you  might  as  well  keep  me  company .   ❜ 

hendrick  allyrion  was  not  a  man  who  believed  in  gods  much,  but  he'd  be  lying  to  himself  if  he  said  that  the  scene  of  the  weirwood  trees  above  the  prominent  pool  was  not  at  least  interesting  to  him.  he  eyed  the  other  closely,  steps  soft  as  he  made  his  way  closer.  perhaps,  he  could  scare  them  and  get  a  laugh  out  of  it,  but  before  he  could,  he  had  been  discovered.  with  a  playful  roll  of  his  eyes,  he  chuckles  "i  believe  there  can  be  elegance  in  sneakery  too"  he  flashes  the  other  a  smile  "i'd  be  delighted  to  keep  you  company,  my  lady.  may  i  ask  why  are  you  here?  were  you  praying  to  the  old  gods?"

such  beauty  in  this  strange  place  ,  a  heady  and  floral  air  whispers  around  her  head  ,  even  from  atop  the  highest  tower  the  lady  could  find  in  her  exploration  of  highgarden  .  milah's  eyes  trail  the  mander  and  imagine  the  gentle  sounds  of  her  footsteps  on  the  grass  ,  following  its  winding  trail  to  wherever  it  might  lead  .  such  a  pretty  place  which  feels  untouched  by  the  ugliness  of  the  rest  of  the  world  —  but  what  does  that  mean  apart  from  the  promise  that  terror  can  yet  find  its  way  here  ,  and  dirty  this  delicate  beauty  as  it  has  time   and  again  .  footsteps  break  her  from  the  thoughts  chasing  themselves  in  circles  about  her  head  ,  silver  strands  swish  against  her  back  as  she  looks  to  her  intruder  with  an  arched  brow  .  “  should  i  not  be  up  here  ?  ”  she  asks  ,  head  tilting  .  “  i  am  unsure  what  parts  of  this  keep  can  or  cannot  be  explored  .  ”

myles  had  wondered  how  much  of  the  view  of  highgarden  he  could  take  in  from  a  higher  vantage  point.  he'd  walked  around  the  gardens  for  a  few  minutes,  but  smelling  roses  and  fawning  at  the  gorgeous  flowers  were  not  hobbies  he  was  interested  in.  the  youngest  lannister  had  thought  that  perhaps  he'd  just  take  one  good  look  from  above  ad  call  it  a  day,  it  is  when  he  notices  the  silver  hair  that  he  approaches  the  lady  bolton  "i  have  no  idea  whether  we're  allowed  to  be  here  or  not,  but  it  is  not  guarded  so  i  can  gather  we  should  not  worry"  he  offers  a  smirk,  looking  out  at  the  view  of  the  gardens  "it  looks  quite  beautiful  from  up  here"

he  feels  foolish  at  times  ,  as  though  these  fine  clothes  are  too  large  for  his  limbs  despite  the  sheer  length  of  each  leg  and  arm  .  kit  is  used  to  beautiful  things  ,  to  the  soft  brush  of  silk  upon  his  skin  ;  but  it  does  feel  strangely  as  though  he  doesn't  belong  in  his  own  body  ,  like  these  muscles  ,  this  beard  ,  these  experiences  do  not  belong  to  him  but  to  someone  far  away  ,  someone  older  .  he  stands  in  the  stables  ,  his  kind  hands  brushing  tenderly  over  the  mare  whinnying  before  him  ,  a  small  smile  playing  on  tired  lips  as  he  glances  over  at  his  companion  .  “  shall  we  go  for  a  ride  ?  it's  been  a  long  time  since  i've  felt  the  wind  in  my  hair  .  ” 

her  wandering  through  highgarden  had  prompted  her  to  mindlessly  walk  around  until  the  next  big  thing  showed  up  in  her  path.  from  the  gorgeous  gardens  to  the  deceitful  maze,  she'd  felt  like  she  had  seen  it  all.  that  was  before  she  noticed  the  big  stable  before  her  in  a  distant  land,  the  blonde  walks  in,  admiring  the  horses  of  the  noble  family.  she  could  admit  they  were  marvelous  animals,  even  though  she  wasn't  one  to  care  much  for  horsekeeping.  the  voice  of  the  other  brings  her  out  of  her  thoughts  "why  is  that?  you  don't  seem  like  the  type  to  not  ride  for  long"  she  looks  down  at  her  dress  before  looking  back  up  to  him  "i  want  to  say  i'd  accept,  but  i'm  not  sure  it  is  a  good  idea"

Jess leaned on the keep's outermost ring wall, one boot pressed against the white stone. While her hands maneuvered a slanted dagger to peel away the skin of an apple, her eyes were fixed on the Roseroad's southernmost stretch. Oldtown and the High Tower stood at the end of that road. Close enough to touch, it felt. This was the nearest she'd come to home in years, and it left a sour taste in her mouth. Eyes flickered over to the person crossing the gate, passing her by. "Heading out, my liege?" She could tell they were not --- not for any serious travel, anyway. But reason was not enough to hold back her remark, leisurely in tone but marked with a faint, caustic stain of resentment. "Take care not to stray too far on this one, you might find yourself in all sorts of putrid bogs."

allaria  recognizes  the  voice  of  her  former  hired  knight,  her  protector  for  those  few  months  after  aeron's  arrival  in  which  she  worried  for  the  safety  of  them  both.  the  blonde  give  her  old  friend  a  smile,  turning  to  face  her  as  she  rests  her  shoulder  against  the  wall  "any  suggestions  for  something  fun  to  do  around  here?"  the  blonde  asked,  eyes  looking  down  the  dirt  road  that  was  sure  to  be  a  long  journey  to  a  town  that  was  no  more  entertaining  than  what  was  inside  the  castle  "i  have  grown  tired  of  spending  time  inside,  there's  not  much  to  do  and  yes,  i  have  already  explored  the  maze"

the  somber  environment  around  highgarden  was  hard  to  pass  for  granted,  she'd  seen  many  who  seemed  to  dwell  on  the  loss  of  loved  ones  or  dwell  on  the  circumstances  of  that  day.  allaria  couldn't  blame  them,  she  was  sure  that  if  she  were  to  see  a  dragon  nearby  she  was  likely  to  have  a  fit  of  some  kind,  too.  "i  believe  you're  the  second  person  i've  spoken  to  around  here  who  complains  about  the  pollen"  she  chukles,  giving  a  small  shrug  "the  one  thing  highgarden  is  known  for  causes  you  pain,  it  is  quite  ironic.  we  were  summoned  here  and  expected  to  enjoy  the  flowers,  but  i  doubt  very  much  you're  enjoying  it"

allaria  nodded  understandingly,  perhaps  she  was  lucky  enough  to  not  suffer  from  the  pollen,  but  she  could  understand  the  other's  plight.  at  least  for  her,  life  was  ironic,  she  was  born  a  greyjoy  and  often  got  seasick.  "have  you  found  anything  that  helps?  when  i  get  seasick  i've  found  that  a  spoon  of  honey  helps,  perhaps  it  could  work  for  your  hay  fever?"  she'd  remembered  the  tip  given  to  her  by  an  old  shipwright  once  and  she  didn't  know  whether  one  remedy  to  an  allergy  worked  for  all,  but  it  didn't  seem  that  it  would  hurt  to  try.

"i'm  sorry,  my  lady,  but  i  do  not  believe  gentle  and  winter  can  go  together"  hendrick  chuckles,  turning  to  his  left  as  they  made  their  way  inside  the  vast  highgarden  castle.  he  was  trying  to  get  to  the  kitchens,  his  favorite  place  in  every  castle.  "ah,  you  have  tried  dornish  red!  that's  one  of  my  favorite  dornish  things,  i  am  a  man  of  simple  tastes.  dorne  has  a  lot  of  colorful  fabrics,  though,  i  must  warn  you  that  many  others  find  our  fashion  a  bit  too  risqué"  he  shrugs,  a  laugh  leaving  his  lips  as  he  remembers  how  upright  some  people  could  be  "what  about  where  you're  from?  do  tell  me  a  bit"

a  part  of  her  did  want  to  thank  the  drowned  god,  or  the  seven,  or  whatever  entity  existed  for  saving  her  former  friend  from  a  gruesome  fate,  but  another  part  of  her  kept  these  thoughts  hidden  in  a  deep  pocket  of  her  mind,  never  to  be  admitted.  "will  it  heal  back  to  normal?  you  can  walk,  right?"  the  words  flow  out  of  her  mouth  with  worry,  allaria  chews  down  on  her  bottom  lip  to  keep  herself  from  asking  any  more  questions.  she  was  afraid  to  push  too  far,  they  were  calm  now  and  she  preferred  it  like  this.  the  mention  of  aeron  makes  her  eyes  grow  wide,  she  looks  around  the  room  to  make  sure  they're  alone.  the  question  touched  her  heart.  gysella  had  cared  about  aeron,  at  least  enough  to  ask  about  him.  the  ice  surrounding  her  facade  was  slowly  starting  to  melt  "aeron  was  unharmed,  he's  as  daring  and  energetic  as  ever.  i'm  thankful  he  wasn't  too  afraid  of  the  dragons  from  that  night,  i  suppose  he  thinks  it  was  all  a  bad  dream"

family above all else , the lord heir of pyke had the words etched in skin and m e m o r y . the realm may see him as nothing more but crass and malevolent , for the best parts of himself are reserved for and deserved only by his family , found and by blood . as tedious as it was the pacify his worries , finding every excuse he is able to see for himself they are alive and well , he'd rather be deprived of rest and sleep than be devoured by regret later on . he pushes the doors open , and finds before him that grips at his heart . ❝ it will do for now , too many flowers and not enough sea . ❞ hand reaching out to ruffle her hair . his sister , wild and vicious as storm tides , will always be little in his eyes . he crouches down , does to his nephew as he does with his mother . makes him want to have one of his own , perhaps he must tell his wife of it . ❝ they have yet to finish nursing their grief , it will get worse in the days to come , just you wait . ❞ a loving pinch of the cheek follows before the boy pushes his hands away to return to his play . ❝ why don't you let him play outside with the other children ? ❞

the  blonde  scrunches  her  nose,  a  groan  leaving  her  lips  as  she  feels  the  touch  of  his  hand  dishevelling  her  hair.  allaria  had  always  seen  her  brother  as  her  closest  ally,  when  everyone  turned  their  backs  on  her,  she  felt  like  he  was  the  only  one  who  stood  by  her  side,  mistakes  and  all.  "it's  not  very  reassuring  to  hear  that  it'll  get  worse.  i  suppose  people  have  their  doubts  on  how  well  the  royals  can  protect  us  and  others  may  see  this  as  a  chance  to  prove  their  worth"  the  lady  of  pyke  had  never  been  one  for  politics,  but  reading  the  room  had  been  something  she'd  come  to  learn  to  do  as  fo  late,  mostly  as  she  tried  to  secure  her  position  in  court.  brown  eyes  look  down  at  aeron,  a  soft  smile  on  her  face  as  she  watches  the  two  play.  the  question  erases  the  smile  off  her  face,  a  hint  of  pain  and  anxiety  mixed  in  her  face  "i've  been  told  the  queen  does  not  wish  for  him  to  be  seen  in  public"  she  gulps  at  how  horrible  the  words  coming  from  her  mouth  sound.  this  wasn't  pyke  where  she  was  free  to  take  aeron  out  and  run  around  the  shores  with  him.  at  court,  she  was  afraid  of  what  may  happen  to  him  or  herself  if  they  were  to  make  the  wrong  moves  "and  we  cannot  go  against  her  command,  can  we?"  a  tint  of  disdain  placates  her  tone,  a  show  of  how  much  she  hated  to  follow  this  specific  command.
