speaking about work with the collective, here is something that is especially true about saturn in 12th and maybe a little about saturn in pisces - this placement is incredibly difficult to understand and use. moving on to saturn in the 6th house/virgo. first thing i wanna say about this placement esp about saturn in 6th is that these people don't like to analyze themselves and their desires and motivations. it may be confusing to notice at first because they're often very studious and seem diligent in their desire to learn. they're often eager to learn about other people's motivation and ask many questions. but on a closer look you'd usually notice they avoid their own shadow a lot. the reason for this is that people with this placement often need order, a routine, structure of life. usually in their childhood they didn't have the opportunity to have a routine/schedule that aligns with their inner schedule...hm...how to explain this... basically they were often forced to live by rules which they weren't explained to them properly and they were supposed to passively conform and obey. so they grow up with this unsatisfied need for inner routine that MAKES SENSE and that actually allows them to have internal order and balance. but since they weren't introduced to one when they were small, they often struggle with developing it when they're older and instead try to satisfy their desire with an outside routine - a boring but secure job, doing the same shit everyday, tedious chores that they always do the same way. choosing the evil they know better. not standing up to meet better opportunities because they are new and change the order. so people with this placement often take changes to the set routine as a huge threat. that's why they avoid analyzing themselves - this way they will most likely stumble upon some of their suppressed desires which will stir things up and force them to seek out something new.

if you have saturn in the 1st house you are a very rule and discipline-follower person, unless you have your saturn in aries. you were probably that kid that would get home and immediately do their homework, you wont give yourself a break unless you finish a certain task before. Everything your parents and teachers told you to do, you would do it, always following their guidance and seeking recognition for your actions and acts of service for them. The problem with having saturn in this house, is that you may have a hard time separating your identity as whole with the expectations of other people. you fear not meeting up to people’s expectations of you, (especially parents) because everyone sees you as this very disciplined person with a lot of structure and rigid mindset. You feel that you are way too mature for the people who you should be surrounded by, like your classmates, work mates, people from your age etc.. and thats why you may feel more confortable and understood with older people. you could end up dating/marrying someone older, but be careful because this relationship could turn sour and lose all the fun and passion it once had.  they are serious people, closed and difficult to get close to. The ones I list can be a red flag for everyone - I don't like the term re flag, but these placements in a chart could show that a person can be either prone to toxic behaviours or attract people who are:

Moon or Venus in the 12th House or any strong Moon or Venus-Neptune aspects

Although they are in no way toxic by themselves, they may have real trouble when it comes to the people they surround themselves with, the people they choose as partners. They can be very vulnerable and naive, lack a realistic image of others. So if you are dating them it may be frustrating that they have no idea when people are trying to take advantage of them. Not a red flag, but a heads up for people dating someone with these or people who have these - Be more cautious of people.

Any Mars-Uranus-Pluto hard aspect

Anger issues. They may not get angry easily, but when they do it will either be uncontrollable (Uranus) or extremely intense, vengeful (Pluto). Someone with Uranus aspecting Mars or Pluto may take very unexpected action, they can also be very apathetic when it comes to anger which may make them rationalize anything bad they do. Mars-Pluto aspects can have deeply emotional anger, they can get very affected, they remember anything bad you've done, they may take revenge for something that has happened 20 years ago. Also a Scorpio Mars quality.

Moon-Mars aspects can be troublesome due to acting out based on their emotions = you once again don't know what to expect. It can also show hard time connecting emotionally to sexual partners or having a hard time viewing people you emotionally connect to as sexual partners.

Anything squaring Saturn (especially Moon or Mars)

Not a red flag, but it's a sign that if you cross them even once, it's over. They have no trouble cutting people off. With Moon-Saturn square, they have no trouble saying goodbye no matter what their heart is telling them, no matter how much they suffer. Mars-Saturn squares are generally cold. Once they decide it's over, it's over forever.

Chiron or Lilith in the 7th House or conjunct Venus

Anything in the 7th House can be very reflective. In many cases it's either you are prone to having these qualities in relationships or attracting people who have these qualities in a relationship with you. With Chiron, people can either bring all of their personal pain, "baggage" into their relationship or attract people who bring pain and baggage. Chiron is not bad, it's the unwounded healer, it's the one who tries to get better, learn their lessons, heal themselves and those around them, but before he manages to do that he may have great troubles with their past, have hidden unresolved issues, bitterness.

Lilith in the 7th House in a chart, especially in a guy from what I have observed, can show that he attracts people who are highly sexual, dominant, manipulative, dangerous in a way or he is the one who is prone to these behaviours in relationships. Kurt Cobain can be a good example for the first. Lilith in 7th also may have troubles with harmony, equality in the relationship, issues may underly for a long time, then everything can get out of hand. Can also be a sign of infidelity, having a mistress/being one.

The Chiron-Venus or Lilith-Venus conjunctions are definitely more focused on the self and how people act in relationships.

Mars, Pluto in the 7th House

This will be a bit too generalized, but:

Mars can be very dominant, he likes to lead - in relationships Mars in 7th can be too demaning, sometimes aggressive or attract people with these qualities. It can also show having relationships with a lot of fighting.

Pluto in 7th, being obsessive with relationships or attracting obsessive people. One of the "stalker" aspects.

Saturn in 7th can also show being very controlling in relationships or attracting people who are very controlling, cold, usually older.

Harsh aspect(square, opposite) between Lilith and Juno in a guy can show that he may have the Madonna-Whore complex (seriosuly fascinating, read about it), which means that he may have trouble viewing a wife or a mother in a sexual way, making distinction between a partner and a sexual partner, which in itself can be troublesome. It's basically wife versus mistress.

Venus opposite or square Mars can show that they have very different needs for a romantic versus a sexual partner, it can be a sign that if they pursue you sexually they may have a hard time liking you romantically.

It all depends on other stuff, but this is just a heads up.

In an opposition to the Ascendant, the Descendant or, most of the time, the 7th house’s cusp, describes what in us we are often unable to see by ourselves. If the Ascendant’s information is the front page of our body and of our personality, the Descendant’s information is on our backs. It is part of us. It is ours, alright, but we cannot see it alone: we need a mirror or someone else to describe that for us and tell us what is there, what’s it like.

Naturally, the 7th house introduces our ability to relate with people as a pair. It is our ability to bond with others, to form strong, substantial alliances. There is compromise in these relationships. Here we are interested in sharing our life experiences with our significant others while also being able to be there for them too. It’s about living together, celebrating in communion the breath of life (airy house).

However, as genuine as this interest in others may appear to be, it is not purely unselfish. The Descendant demonstrates that together we are able to achieve things we could never achieve alone, thus it introduces all houses above the horizon (8th to 12th). We’re interested in others mainly because they remind us of what we could be. As part of our chart, our Descendant is about that twilight part of us, sleepy and less conscious, that is just waiting to be awakened by our contact with some other person that is conveniently especial to us. And when this less conscious part of us is finally made conscious, we must recognize it as ours, else we’ll start projecting traits on our partner.

So on the Descendant we must be constantly reminding ourselves of what belongs to us, what belongs to our partner and, naturally, what belongs to both! The purpose of this post is to help us figuring out what traits we should pay more attention to, since they are part of us too. When we integrate our Descendant more consciously with our overall personality, we are able to relate more harmoniously with others, since we’ll be then separating what is ours from what is not.

Moreover, again understanding the Descendant as that which is on our backs, the Descendant’s information has a critical participation in describing how our allies, partners, lovers and intimate friends see us, thus this should be balanced with the Ascendant’s information to build a more complete image of what others see in us.

Aries Descendant; Libra Ascendant: as a Libra Rising, you are instinctually considerate and thoughtful towards life in general. You dislike conflicts, so when you’re involved in one, your instinct is to dissolve that with your ability to understand and defend other people’s interests. Your relationships, however, ignite in you such a competitive, independent energy, that you may have some trouble realising it is actually yours. Your allies, when close, discover your more combative, headstrong side. You’re not always so cooperative as they thought you were. Wherever someone’s ascendant falls in our houses, that’s where we see the person at first sight and how we think they’ll fit into our lives. To me, rising signs can be such a smoke curtain. It takes a while to see the person behind the ascendant. Some say the ascendant is the cover of the book. And that can be quite delusive. As such, I don’t put too much stock in ascendant-house overlays. I look primarily at actual planets, such as the inner [personal] planets (sun, MOON, VENUS, Mars); I also look at prominent asteroids (Lilith, Chiron, etc.). But someone asked for this, so since I didn’t see too much on it myself, I figured…what the hell.

1st house - Ascendant: The ascendant often has to do with first impressions that we get from others.  This shows that the two of you tend to see the world in the same way and have similar visceral responses to likes and dislikes. While this may seem like a favorable indication for a relationship, too much similarity tends to create stagnation and lack of interest. Since the purpose of any relationship is spiritual growth, this combination would probably only survive if there is greater contrariety in as far as other indicators are concerned.

2nd house - Ascendant:  This overlay indicates a very basic kind of physical attraction. The ascendant person particularly could enhance physical attraction and feelings of sensuality in the 2nd house person. The ascendant can influence the house person in a positive way and can also bolster his/her feelings of self-worth. In return, the house person gives the ascendant person comfort, security, and a feeling of usefulness within that relationship.

3rd house - Ascendant:  The basic spiritual awareness and intuitive perceptions of the ascendant person will influence the thinking and mental attitudes of the 3rd house person. 5th house - Ascendant:  This overlay can indicate a strong spiritual link between the two.of them. On the negative side, though, there can be danger of competition. These two can effectively reinforce self-image, self-awareness, willpower and self-expression. If the two parties take advantage of the positive influence of this overlay, its effect can be very powerful.

6th house - Ascendant:  This overlay indicates a very complex kind of physical attraction. The ascendant person particularly could enhance physical fitness and health in the 6th house person. Also, the ascendant can influence the house person in a positive way and can also bolster his/her feelings of self-worth. In return, the house person gives the ascendant person structure, order, and a feeling of helpfulness within that relationship; the house person makes the ascendant person want to be better and more perfect, physically. They either can work well together (if the ascendant person has their rising in Leo, Aquarius, or an earth or water sign and the house person’s 6th is in Leo, Aquarius or an earth or water sign) or the partners fail to cooperate with each other in meeting various responsibilities (the ascendant is either in an air or fire sign and the house person’s 6th is in a water or earth sign; or conversely, the ascendant is either in an earth or water sign and the house person’s 6th is in an air or fire sign).

7th house - Ascendant:  In love relationships, this combination can create a strong romantic sensual attraction. They tend to both sit up and take notice of each other. The ascendant individual tends to initiate the first contact and may be the first to notice the 7th house individual. The house individual is capable of making the ascendant individual feel good about him/herself and loved. Friendship results in other circumstances (which is more often than not). One mirrors the other’s approach to life, at least on the surface. However, even though they will probably feel an instant affinity for and attraction toward one another, this overlay does not guarantee they will be compatible on deeper issues. As such, having the ascendant in a tight conjunction to another’s actual descendant is more  powerful and definitely inspires attention.

8th house - Ascendant: They will encourage each other to make greater efforts towards physical and spiritual self-improvement. The 8th house person can have a strong spiritual or occult influence on the ascendant person’s basic consciousnesses and self-awareness. In a romantic relationship, strong sexual attraction is likely.

9th house - Ascendant: The 9th house person encourages the ascendant person’s efforts at personal and spiritual self-improvement and helps him/her develop a more positive self-image and mores socially constructive means of personal self-expression. The ascendant person will give energy and active support to the house person’s efforts to aid or improve the larger social order. They will be natural friends and enjoy each other’s company.

10th house - Ascendant:  The 10th house person will influence the ascendant person to be more mature, serious, purposeful an businesslike in personal self-expression ad basic approach to life and more cautious and less impulsive in personal actions. For the relationship to be harmonious, the both of them must respect the other’s independence and free will.

Sun to Nodes has a lot of talk about soulmates and knowing each other in a past life. There is recognition in each other. Challenging aspects like square or opposition can indicate a lesson they need to still teach each other. Easier aspects such as trine or sextile indicates finding each other again in love or friendship.

North node: Challenging or easy their relationship pushes each other forward in growth. South Node: Even with easy aspects there is a feel that they hinder each other’s growth or they echo the problems or challenges of a previous life together.

Moon to Nodes has a lot of talk about soulmates much like the Sun aspects. This karmic feel can be really FELT in the union. Hard aspects indicate a challenge in emotionally getting lost in one another along with easily being manipulated by each other. Easy aspects indicates emotional nurturing with the north node but possibly enabling with the south.

North node: The Moon person sets an example and emotionally guides the node through their life lessons. South node: Habits, enabling, possessiveness, and over protectiveness can harm each other’s growth.

Mercury to the Nodes indicates a lot of mutual learning from each other. With harder aspects Mercury becomes more of a teacher but this can indicate a part of them that is closed off to what the Node partner has to show them.

North Node: Mercury through communication and curiosity lights up the path for the Node person’s karmic lessons. Hopefully this can turn into a mutually enlightening bond, but some aspects can make this harder. South Node: With harmonious aspects Mercury may pin point where the Node person is stuck in their karmic journey. Challenging aspects can make the Mercury person less receptive. Easy or challenging aspects there is still a risk of the two forming an echo chamber where new ideas are rarely presented.

Venus to the Nodes indicates a strong bond. Some point to this as past-life lovers. Easy aspects can indicate familiarly, they grow comfortable with each other almost instantly. Challenging aspects can mean an attraction they don’t understand. Confusion and frustration can happen. 

North Node: They move forward together. The lessons they learned in the past help them change and transform together. South Node: Can indicate a relationship that they need to let go of. Without leaving each other this can mean a relationship where habits need to change.

Mars to Nodes indicates fire, passion, magnetism, and an attraction that makes them feel like they are truly meant to be together OR with say challenging aspects, like they emotionally and spiritually need to be together but the world keeps getting in the way.

North Node: Their will, desire, and spirit merge on impact. They push each other through this life’s lessons and maybe into the next life. South Node: A war between them from a past life still rages in their relationship. They must make peace or move on.

Jupiter to the Nodes can be quite a spiritual experience. In this relationship there is a focus on beliefs, questioning, and faith (whether it be faith in one’s self, in others, or in something bigger than them). With easier aspects Jupiter shows the Node person honesty, openness, and goodness or “righteousness”. Jupiter sets an example somehow. With challenging aspects the example Jupiter sets isn’t always welcomed or easily understood by the Node person.

North Node: Can have more of a mutually beneficial influence on the relationship. Being together may attract “luck” or at least a sense of happiness and fulfillment. They are on a spiritual and karmic journey together. South Node: Jupiter could actually pull the Node person out of their old habits or ruts. This can also be an area where Jupiter’s expanding tendency enables or creates a feeling of indulgence and consumption towards what the Node person wants to leave behind. In some cases the Node individual eventually is done or surpasses Jupiter and wants to leave the habits or thoughts they’ve cultivated together behind.

Saturn to the Nodes we have the famous theme of maturity. Saturn plays a role in helping the Node person mature. Sometimes the Node individual may remind Saturn of some principle or self-promise that they may have become relaxed on or forgotten about.

North Node: With easy aspects Saturn guides the Node through trails and the Node person through their own lessons help Saturn become more free and unburdened. With challenging aspects they may be the turning point for each other towards maturity, toughness, success, self-reliance. South Node: While trying to move on the Node person may recognize their own struggles in Saturn. Taking responsibility for each other and depending on each other to a healthy extent can be good for this relationship. But Saturn with hard aspects can restrict the Node’s growth.

Uranus to the Node we see liberation, disturbance, and maybe a form of enlightenment. With easy aspects Uranus liberates and with hard aspects Uranus disrupts. The Node shouldn’t always seem passive in synastry. The Node can reflect the Uranus’s person higher mind or maybe show them where obstacles are that can get in the way of Uranus reaching for their freedom, what they want to change, or their expression. 

North Node: Uranus assist in bringing the Node person out of the past, especially in an unexpected or radical way. Challenging aspects can indicate Uranus is an actual challenge the Node person must overcome to keep going forward. South Node: Uranus could bring chaos to the Node person’s learning, maybe not always being the best influence. Sometimes with easier aspects Uranus vibration can help the Node person feel more accepting of leaving the past behind or going out of their comfort zone.

Neptune to Nodes can indicate mutual healing. Feelings from the past can grow strong for the Node person in this relationship. Easy aspects indicate moving on while challenging aspects could present each other with long-standing insecurities.

North Node: Neptune may softly or harshly face the Node person towards emotions that are hard to shed like guilt, regret, or betrayal. What the Node is moving towards may be a goal or lesson Neptune highly understands and sympathizes with. South Node: Neptune at times can induce the emotions that keep the node person held back. Depending on what the Node person is leaving behind may be something the Neptune person is currently going through. They must work together to bring each other out of the muck.

Pluto to Nodes comes with lessons about listening to your intuition, trusting in your power, and carving your own destiny. Easy aspects indicates intense closeness to help each other grow. In the previous part of my asteroid series, I discussed the origins of the asteroid Vesta. In this part, I will go over the general application of this asteroid in the natal chart. Vesta in the natal chart reveals themes of perseverance, refinement, power, purity, and resilience. Where it is located and how it interacts with other planets in the natal chart can show where the individual, especially in a feminine person’s chart, can have dominionship and where people will praise you (or worship you in extreme cases). In a masculine person’s chart it may show the relationship he has with the goddesses in his life (his perception of notable women). It can show where the individual shines light or where they will find light. Vesta is where we find our inner goddessness. 

While I won’t provide specific aspect interpretations, if you have a basic understanding for interpreting aspects, the interchanges between planets and Vesta are quite simple to comprehend. I always want to also stress the importance of aspects with tight orbs made to Vesta as the planets represent more prominent dimensions than asteroids do so interchanges between the two are what makes asteroids significant in the natal chart.

Vesta in the Houses

The 1st House This position puts Vesta on a front, making the individual carry out her energy as a true goddess or queen archetype, especially when Vesta conjuncts the ascendant. Depending on the sign Vesta is in will give you the flavours and colours of the individual’s goddessness– one might imagine the grandness from a Leo versus the humbleness of a Virgo. There is immense focus on the self; defining, transforming, and mastering one’s true self. These individuals tend to naturally eminent beauty and purity and may even work with the two or hold high importance for those qualities. Even the most insecure or damaged individuals that have this placement can seek salvation through Vesta here. There is immense fire within that is unlocked, unleashed, and worshipped when the individual masters their true self.

The 2nd House Vesta in the 2nd house puts a focus on resources. Its goddess energy will bring themes of self-sufficiency, security, efficiency and skill in the use of earth magic and material. The individual will be worshipped for their usefulness and ability to create security. People will seek salvation through the individual’s ability to generate and accumulate life-aiding resources. The individual has purifying abilities; purifies resources and material like a flame purifies a needle. Here the goddess is the creator of eternal fire.  

The 3rd House Here, Vesta’s eternal fire is in the mind and plays an important role of book-keeping wisdom. She will symbolize the shedding of light and clarity. Vesta in the 3rd house can carry knowledge between worlds– interchanges with the planets will indicate what sorts of information Vesta carries. Vesta here can generate, purify, and refine ideas. The individual will be worshipped for their words or in negative aspects may have to overcome adversities involving people not listening to their hidden wisdom. People will seek salvation through the individual’s opinions and thoughts.

The 4th House When Vesta is in the 4th house, her eternal fires are in the home for the individual. Individual may be worshipped for their domestic role. The maternal parent maybe Vesta-like to the individual, especially if the individual is masculine. Home life’s haven symbolizes great importance; activities involving Vesta themes are prominent in domestic life (purifying, generating, transforming, refining, etc,). Individual’s sacredness is veiled and hidden here. Negative aspects may indicate inhibition to unveiling Vesta’s secret knowledge and goddessness. Tight, positive interchanges symbolizes Vesta’s ability to transfer other energies, bring them into the home, and to transform and refine them. People will seek salvation through the individual’s essence of making them feel at home (especially when Vesta is involved with an empathetic sign or planet).

The 5th House Here, Vesta symbolizes her immense generative powers and her ability to take dominion over creation. An individual with this placement has the potential for producing sacred creations. The individual will be worshipped for their creations and/or will worship/take great pride in their own creations as they will possess Vesta’s goddess-like qualities. People will seek salvation in the individual’s ability to generate happiness and pleasure. Secret wisdom may be within their creations. There is great focus on the creative process as well and all creative processes with Vesta here will undergo stages of transformation and intense refinement. 

The 6th House Here, Vesta symbolizes sacred healing abilities. When regenerative abilities are mastered within the individual, it can be prescribed to others. Vesta in the 6th house focuses greatly on purity in the body; diet, physical health, and hygiene will be prominent themes in for Vesta placed here. Similar to the second house, there is proficiency in earth magic, especially in areas dealing with growing plants or working with animals; Vesta here becomes a whisperer to nature and is especially complimentary when the 6th house is aligned with an empathetic sign.  

The 7th House When Vesta is in the 7th house, inner goddessness is sought out in other people, especially through partnerships. The individual’s need to be with a partner they can serve and worship is important. Vesta here can master liberation and liberate others. She purifies herself for others and focuses on what her inner fire does for others. An individual with this placement can spend a lot of time working on themselves for other people and it can come from either a positive place or a negative one depending on Vesta’s condition. One’s true self of purity is reached when they’re both comfortable with themselves and comfortable with how others view them. 

The 8th House Vesta here opens doors to unspoken wisdom. Here she is transforming and transferring wisdom. Here she illuminates the darkness and purifies the occult. An individual with this placement can master soul intimacy within themselves and shine light to it in other people. An individual with this placement can become very proficient in providing clarity to unspoken topics (sexuality, occult, death, afterlife, etc.). People will seek salvation in this person’s ability to heal others in these areas of life.

The 9th House Here, Vesta is a teacher of sacred wisdom. She is worshipped for her ability to retain and regenerate wisdom. An individual with this placement understands and masters truth; there’s great focus on finding the truth within facts and the purity behind truth– Vesta’s flames reaching at all ends of the earth to uncover truth. People will find salvation in the individual’s ability to bring clarity to wisdoms. Interchanges between the planets will indicate what types of wisdoms Vesta will bring forth upon.

The 10th House Unlike the 4th house, here Vesta is unveiled and her power is brought to a front much like the 1st house, but unlike the 1st house, she manifests Vesta-like actions to the public eye rather than making the individual appear Vesta-like. Here there’s great focus on Vestal processes in public spaces for the individual; generating, regenerating, transforming, and purifying. With certain positive interchanges with planets, it may indicate having some sort of authority and even being worshipped for said authority. This placement may also indicate that the paternal parent may be Vesta-like.

The 11th House Vesta in the 11th house represents salvation in community. When individuals with this placement tap into Vesta’s energy, there is immense focus on building communities for the purpose of growth, security, and transformation. A placement like this brings people together like the hospitality Vesta’s eternal flame provided. Collective worship and collective goddessness are prominent themes here.
